Youtube is the biggest platform for digital video library and the service is the best place to promote one’s products through advertisement. Its parent company Alphabet has almost established itself in every market possible, but the field of e-commerce was still a little further from its reach.

But earlier we reported that Google might be trying to make YouTube a one-stop shopping destination for its users. Though the idea cuts middle persons like Flipkart and Amazon from the equation and has been heavily criticized by the e-commerce giants. But it’s Google, it hardly cares about the criticisms of other big companies.

According to sources, YouTube may soon introduce shopping links within the videos themselves. The streaming platform is experimenting with embedding links inside its videos which it claims will help sellers as well as viewers.

The links will help the media streaming platform to provide direct access to shopping material. Reports indicate that few users already spotted a shopping bag icon on the bottom left corner of the screen. Tapping on this icon then lists the items featured in the videos.

The pilot program which allows few creators to access direct shopping links within a YouTube video is currently showing up for US YouTube viewers on Web, Android, and iOS.

The new feature will help creators and influencers provide readily available shopping links. Currently, most creators use the description box under the video to provide relevant links which vary from relevant references to even shopping sites.

Earlier this week, former NBA player Stephen Jackson confirmed that Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving bought a house for the family of George Floyd. Jackson confirmed the act of charity in an appearance on “The Rematch” podcast.

Jackson, who was a friend of the late Floyd, said, “Kyrie Irving bought them a house. Lil Wayne’s manager bought them a Mercedes-Benz. Barbra Streisand gave them stock in Disney.” Being a close friend, Jackson made it his personal mission to voice the concerns of African-Americans especially in relation to police brutality. He also said he will take it upon himself to watch over Floyd’s daughter, Gianna Floyd, after George’s death.

George Floyd was a 46-year-old Black man who was killed last Memorial Day, by a white Minneapolis police officer by kneeling on his neck for seven minutes and 46 seconds. Floyd’s death led to widespread protests against police brutality and discrimination against African-Americans around the United States.

Irving made the purchase of the home approximately five to six months ago, according to Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated. In July 2020, Irving also donated $1.5 million to WNBA players who opted out of playing the remainder of the 2020 season in a bubble, whether because of coronavirus or social justice reasons.

In July, Irving also joined rapper Common among others for a TV special calling action after the death of Breonna Taylor, a 26-year-old Black emergency technician who was shot to death eight times on March 13, in Louisville, Kentucky, by plainclothes officers serving a narcotics search warrant without knocking at her apartment.

Irving has not played a single game since January 5, citing personal reasons for the first seven games. He will also miss Monday’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks, but could possibly make his return on Wednesday or Friday when the Nets will take on the Cleveland Cavaliers.

After long speculation, David Alaba finally agreed to join Real Madrid on a free transfer. The Austrian left-back will join the Spanish side in the summer once his contract with Bayern Munich expired.

However, the 28-year-old left-back will sign a four years deal to play at the Santiago Bernabéu. Alaba refused to extend his contract with Bayern Munich last October. Bayern Munich chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge admitted, “We had many conversations with his agent.”

“There was a final meeting and a proposal with an October deadline. Our offer was not accepted and our president withdrew it.”

Alaba will earn €230,000 (£204,000) after-tax at Real Madrid. As per the report, Alaba has already completed his medical.

WhatsApp’s new privacy policy updates had all the users of the service worried about handing over their complete private data to the company. Many even suggested that the social media giant is taking it too far with its new policy. But it seems that WhatsApp is rethinking its terms.

The social media company has stated that it has taken a step back as its sudden policy change has caused confusion and backlash among its user community. WhatsApp stated that it will better explain what data it collects and how the data will be useful to its parent Facebook.

“We’ve heard from so many people how much confusion there is around our recent update. There’s been a lot of misinformation causing concern and we want to help everyone understand our principles and the facts.”

The new policy’s initial deadline was February 8, but now it has been pushed to May 15 amidst backlash from users. WhatsApp has already turned from a personal messaging service to a business model. It is also promoting online sales and has entered the market of digital payment.

The updated privacy policy was intended to alert users that some businesses would soon be using Facebook-owned servers to store messages with consumers. But users are concerned that Facebook would be able to see their private messages as well. WhatsApp said that isn’t true, and that all private messages between friends and family members will remain end-to-end encrypted.

“While not everyone shops with a business on WhatsApp today, we think that more people will choose to do so in the future and it’s important people are aware of these services. This update does not expand our ability to share data with Facebook.”

The miscommunication around WhatsApp’s new policies has helped lead to a spike in user growth for competing apps, such as Signal and Telegram.
