FIFA: Football development highlighted in visit to the Central African Republic

0

For the first-time ever, a team representing the Central African Republic qualified for a continental competition as they are competing in the 2021 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations

BANGUI, Central African Republic, February 18, 2021/ — A meeting with President Faustin-Archange Touadéra, a national honour from the Central African Republic, and a presentation of a ground-breaking project involving the Central African Republic Football Association (RCA), the French Football Federation (FFF) and FIFA, highlighted FIFA President Gianni Infantino’s first-ever visit to Bangui.

The Renaissance Palace provided the setting for the meeting with President Touadéra, where the strategy to introduce practical steps to encourage more young people to play football was discussed, together with the performances of the national team ‘Les Fauves’ (the Wild Beasts) and their aspirations. Subsequently, the Central African Republic’s Prime Minister Firmin Ngrébada bestowed the honour of the National Order of Recognition, which was awarded in the rank of commander, upon the FIFA President at the CAR PM’s headquarters.

“I am truly humbled to receive this honour. Football can contribute even if just a bit to make people’s lives a little better being a symbol of unity, peace and solidarity.,” the FIFA President said.

The timing of the FIFA President’s visit was significant for a number of reasons. For the first-time ever, a team representing the Central African Republic qualified for a continental competition as they are competing in the 2021 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations, which is currently taking place in Mauritania.

“Football can play an important role in bringing people together and uniting them through their love of the game,” said the FIFA President Gianni Infantino. “[I am very happy] to work with President Célestin Yanindji and the federation, to team up with the government, to advance all projects currently in progress and some other which will follow.

“The country stops to watch or listen to the radio broadcasts of the matches of the national team. This is a football country, so it was about time for me to come to Bangui for the first time. FIFA needs to be present where football is played. FIFA has to be everywhere in the world, in all the countries. That’s why it was about time that I’m coming, and I’m happy to be here.”

The FIFA delegation also had the opportunity to discuss the technical support programme (TAP), established as a partnership with RCA and FFF, with the funding from FIFA Forward. As a mid-term initiative, the programme aims to train and certificate coaches, encourage more youngsters to play football, to discover and develop talent, and to boost women’s football. The visit to the Central African Republic provided the delegation with the opportunity to go through the details in the RCA headquarters in Gbangouma, where they also met with the association’s staff.

“FIFA is working with the RCA and the government to introduce new initiatives through football, which will encourage young people to use the sport as a vehicle to learn new skills that equip them for the future,” the FIFA President added. “In addition, and together with the FFF, FIFA is implementing the first-ever technical support programme here in the Central African Republic. This is a pilot project, but it can serve as an example for other countries as well, and it is something we want to replicate in other parts of the globe.”

“I would like to thank FIFA for their support in helping to develop football in the Central African Republic, and especially, I would like to thank the FIFA President Gianni Infantino for being here in Bangui as it shows that FIFA really cares about how we are living football on the ground,” said RCA President Célestin Yanindji. “For us, FIFA is an essential partner. They have so many projects in mind, and they provide the necessary means to turn ideas into reality.”

“The message really, to all the people of the Central African Republic, is that FIFA is with them, that FIFA is here and present,” the FIFA President concluded. “We are here to invest. We are here to build. We are here to give hope and to give smiles. Concretely, not just with words, as we are speaking about concrete projects to help support and develop football.”

Even though Zotac is selling RTX 3060 to miners, NVIDIA’s new algorithm drops hash rate during mining

0

NVIDIA’s new GeForce RTX 3060 is all set to debut in the coming days of the month; Zotac has already sent the GPUs, not to gamers but miners. Apart from announcing the dedicated mining GPUs, NVIDIA also announced that the GeForce RTX 3060 drivers would detect if the user is mining cryptocurrency.

This will reduce the performance by a whopping 50%, making these new RTX 30-series GPUs almost useless, which could somewhat decrease the absolute demand of these gaming GPUs that are being used openly by miners.

A miner has already got a ZOTAC GeForce RTX 3060 Twin Edge OC Edition and was tested by CryptoLeo to see if this could be used for mining. It seems NVIDIA’s anti-mining algorithm seems to be working because, after a minute or two of mining, the hash rate has dropped from 41.5 MH/s to 26-24 MH/s.

The miner didn’t even have the drivers for this card as it has not been officially launched in the market; the working anti-mining algorithm has been implemented in the BIOS itself. Well, only the RTX 3060 is the first card to feature this solution to detect mining.

This addresses two issues: Miners now buying new RTX 30-series GPUs will not be able to mine with a 50% less hash rate provided, NVIDIA puts the algorithm into other RTX 30-series GPUs. Second, this will force miners to buy NVIDIA’s new CMP 30HX, 40HX, 50HX, and 90HX GPUs for mining.

Pogba still set to leave United despite contract extension rumours

Ever since the bombshell announcement made by Mino Raiola regarding his client, Paul Pogba leaving Manchester United, the Frenchman has surprisingly managed to play well consistently. Multiple vital goals much like the player’s best performances have managed to instill doubts in the minds of fans as to whether he is still on his way out of the club.

Speaking on the issue on the Here We Go podcast on Patreon, Fabrizio Romano and Francesco Porzio mentioned that Mino Raiola is working quietly in an attempt to secure a move for his client at the end of the season.

Rumours have been circulating that Pogba has changed his mind regarding his future at Manchester United and is now considering a contract extension at the Old Trafford. However, those rumours were deemed false by the two Italian transfer insiders.

In a situation of a highly-paid player of the stature of Paul Pogba, there can only be a few destinations because only very few clubs have the capacity to match his economical expectations.

During the winter transfer window, Pogba was talked about as the top transfer target for Paris Saint-Germain in the summer, and the financial backing of the French Champions certainly allows them to make the investment.

Elsewhere, Real Madrid could also be in the race for the player, but they have not made any concrete bid yet. Zidane is an admirer of his compatriot, but the current financial situation has diminished Los Merengues’ power. Hence, while Madrid can certainly go for the player, they are steering clear of him right now.

A return to Juventus has always been talked about. Everybody from Director Fabio Paratici to the staff at the club and the fans love the player and would be glad to have him again. With the Bianconeri also in the market for a top midfielder, the stars could align for another stint at the Juventus Stadium for the 2018 World Cup winner.

Juventus are happy with Pirlo; no contact with Zidane regarding managerial job

0

Despite managing Real Madrid towards a 34th title-winning LaLiga campaign, Zinedine Zidane’s future at the club has taken a hit due to his team’s performances this time around. Los Blancos currently find themselves in second place in the league right now, six points behind city rivals Atletico and having played an extra game.

As is natural in situations like these, there have been rumours circulating that are linking the Madrid boss with an exit from the club. Although this time, the decision will come from the board and not due to expiry of the contract.

Past glories count for nothing when managing a club like Real Madrid, and Zidane himself is the best person to observe this on. The Frenchman managed to win a hat-trick of Champions League titles with the club but is still not immune to the pressures of managing Los Merengues.

Elsewhere in Turin, Italy, there have been whispers that Juventus are looking at Zinedine Zidane as a replacement for Andrea Pirlo at the end of the current season due to their performance in the league this season. However, speaking on the topic on the Here We Go podcast on Patreon, Fabrizio Romano and Francesco Porzio confirmed that no one called Zidane for Juventus.

The Bianconeri are backing Pirlo to lead the club, and do not see any reason to replace the former player with another legendary Juventus midfielder. These things will be decided in May or June and not now. The bottom line remains that Juventus are happy with Pirlo and are not cold contacting anybody else for the job.

Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G coming soon, bags IMDA certification [Exclusive]

0

After the arrival of the Xiaomi Mi 11 5G, for the past couple of weeks, we’ve been getting several news regarding the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite. As of now, this phone has been spotted at multiple certification websites, such as SIRIM (Malaysia), EEC (Europe), FCC (US), NBTC (Thailand), IMDA (Singapore), and Bluetooth SIG with model number: M2101K9AG. The Indian variant of the Lite model got approved by the BIS authority last month, model number: M2101K9AI. But, we’ve been informed that it is a 4G LTE model whereas a recent report is saying that there will be a 5G version as well of the device, and not only that but also reports came out saying that the 5G variant of the Mi 11 Lite has passed the IMDA certification again today with the model number: M2101K9G. (source)

From that listing, we’ve not got much of its specifications. The only thing that we’ve come to know is that it is a 5G enabled device having Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and NFC. So, the key specifications are yet to get revealed. It is also not clear that what will be the key differences between the 4G and 5G variants of the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite. But it is assumed that most of the specs will be identical, the chipsets may be different.

As per the FCC listing, the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 4G will run MIUI 12 and is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 732G chipset. The SoC of this phone is likely to be paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of internal storage. This phone will be fueled up by a decent 4,520mAH battery supported by 33W of rapid fast charging. It will support Bluetooth 5.2.

Alleged Mi 11 Lite render

As per the rumors, the Mi 11 Lite will have a punch-hole IPS LCD display having a faster refresh rate of 120Hz. In terms of camera, it will have a 64MP triple rear camera setup. As it will not have an AMOLED panel. it is expected to have a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. Overall, the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite is looking to arrive as a stripped-down version of the Mi 11 5G.

Top 7 most expensive all-rounders in the IPL 2021 Auction

The player auction for the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) took place on Thursday in Chennai, with 292 players going under the hammer.

In terms of numbers, the 2021 IPL auction had some interesting facets. According to an official statement by the IPL, 1114 players had registered with them for the 2021 auction but the final list saw only 292 cricketers.

Officially, each of the eight teams was allowed to spend around $12 million in salaries for the 10-week tournament but because many have a high number of players that have been retained, the cash available for the auction differed. While the Punjab Kings had the most amount left in their purse (Rs 53.2 crore), Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals had the least salary cap of Rs 10.75 crore.

7. Shakib Al Hasan- ₹3.2 crore (Kolkata Knight Riders)

Shakib, whose base price was Rs 2 crore, and who is back after serving a two-year ban, was bought by KKR for Rs 3.20 crore after Punjab Kings lost interest in the all-rounder. “I am very excited to be part of Kolkata again,” said Shakib in a video message shared by the team. Speaking in Bengali, Shakib said, “I will do my best to get the results of 2012 and 2014 when we were champions.”

6. Moises Henriques- ₹4.4 crore (Punjab Kings)

Henriques was bought by Punjab Kings for Rs. 4.20 Crore this IPL auction. He caused a great bidding war between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings who both looked determined to sign the Australian all-rounder as he had a great BBL campaign. Previously, Henriques has been a part of various franchises including the Delhi Daredevils, SunRisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians, and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

5. Moeen Ali- ₹7 crore (Chennai Super Kings)

Moeen Ali was signed by the Chennai Super Kings for Rs 7 crore in the IPL 2021 Auction. The allrounder was released by his previous IPL team RCB. In the second Test against India, Ali hit five sixes and three fours in his 18-ball cameo. It included three consecutive sixes off debutant Axar Patel. “Absolutely buzzing to play for CSK,” Ali said. “Massive fan base, can’t wait to meet for them. Can’t wait to play under MS Dhoni. My teammate Sam Curran is there too. This made my day, made my year.”

4. Jhye Richardson- ₹14 crore (Punjab Kings)

With a base price of Rs 1.5 crore, Punjab Kings bought the Australia fast-bowler Jhye Richardson, for a whopping Rs 14 crore. The 24-year-old pacer has played for Perth Scorchers but it will be his first outing in the IPL. Richardson will rub shoulders with the likes of Mohammed Shami and Chris Jordan in his new team. His arrival will strengthen the pace department of Punjab Kings and can help them in the death overs, an area where they leaked a lot of runs last season.

3. Glenn Maxwell-
₹14.25 crore (Royal Challengers Bangalore)

Maxwell’s reputation got him a pay raise as RCB won a protracted bidding war against Chennai Super Kings to sign the great batsman for Rs 14.25 crore. The signing amount was nearly Rs 4 crores more than what the Australian earned (Rs 10.75 cr) from Punjab Kings last season. Maxwell had a disappointing season in IPL 2020 where he managed merely 108 runs from 13 matches, but has an impressive overall record in the IPL of 1505 runs from 83 games at a strike rate of 154.67.

2. Kyle Jamieson- ₹15 crore (Royal Challengers Bangalore)

RCB pipped the Punjab Kings with a winning bid of Rs 15 crore, the second-highest signing amount of the day. Jamieson had a breakthrough series against India in early 2020 and continued to make progress. He was offered a T20I debut in the series against West Indies late last year. In 38 T20s, Jamieson has 54 wickets at an economy

of 7.98. Initially, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals also showed their interest to purchase Jamieson, but RCB finally snagged the player.

1. Chris Morris- ₹16.25 crore (Rajasthan Royals)

Chris Morris became the most expensive signing in IPL history as the Rajasthan Royals dished out Rs 16.25 crores for the South African all-rounder. The signing amount crossed the INR 16 crore that Delhi Daredevils paid for Yuvraj Singh in 2015 – the previous record for a player signed at the auction. The 33-year-old has previously been a part of the Rajasthan Royals, in the 2015 season when he scored 311 runs and took 13 wickets from 11 games. Totally, he has played 70 IPL games and scored 551 runs at a strike-rate of 157.88 and taken 80 wickets at an economy of 7.81.
