Meizu 18 series to have 6.2” screen, Snapdragon 888 SoC, and a new OneMind scheduled for 3rd March

Meizu is preparing to launch Meizu 18 series next week. We expect the 18 series to come with two smartphones: Meizu 18 and Meizu 18 Pro. The Zhuhai-based company has revealed that the new series will launch on 3rd March 2021. Meizu revealed the teaser of these two new handsets on Weibo, a Chinese microblogging website. Recently, Meizu shared two more photos related to the smartphones which tell us about its features a bit more.

After the recent teaser, we think that the Meizu 18 Pro will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest mobile chipset, Snapdragon 888 SoC. In comparison, the base variant of this series is rumored to be powered by Snapdragon 870 chipset. Another big news which we can expect from the house of the Chinese manufacturer is the feature of “OneMind 8XX”. 

OneMind is a platform that helps in utilizing Artificial intelligence to make intelligent decisions. It has three basic purposes: analysis, decision making, and evolution. These two are big updates from the Chinese company but apart from this, not much is known about the two handsets.

One thing which is confirmed that the Meizu 18 Pro variant will have a 6.2-inch curved display which will come with a 2K resolution. The base variant of this series is expected to have a similar display with a punch-hole selfie camera on the front. The series will be coming with the Flyme 9 Operation system which is a different type of OS as it focuses on privacy and user data security. The official unveiling of this series will be on the 3rd of March 2021. So, let’s wait till then and see what more it has on store for us.

Xiaomi is one of the most famous and widely loved smart TV manufacturers in the Asian market. when the company launched it’s Redmi Max 98, some users complained of not being able to keep their beloved Smart TV in their rooms. I mean, of course, 98-inch is overkilled no matter how you look at it.

But, Xiaomi has now launched its new and slightly more petite Redmi Max 86. The latest addition to the series of giant television sets has a highly competitive price tag of 7,999 yuan (US$1,237) and brings a lot of features to the table. According to Xiaomi, its new television can now fit 99.9% of elevators in its homeland. So better cancel that crane parked outside our apartment.

Speaking of features, the new smart TV comes with a 4K screen and 120 Hz refresh rate, the Redmi Max 86 also supports Dolby Vision and Dolby Panorama. The color-space coverage (P3) hits 92% and the 86-inch Redmi Max smart TV is fitted with 2x 12.5 W speakers and also utilizes Dolby Atmos for enhanced audio reproduction.

The features sound like they will win the hearts of many gamers, tempting them to purchase the device. It has an excellent refresh rate, HDMI 2.1, and automatic low latency ideal for those speedy racing games.

The Redmi Max 86, runs on MIUI for TV 3.0, and comes with a quad-core ARM Cortex-A73 processor that is joined by 2 GB RAM and 32 GB storage. Connectivity options include:

  • an Ethernet jack.
  • 3x HDMI ports (1x HDMI 2.1)
  • 2x USB ports
  • 1 x S/PDIF

It also comes with the intelligent assistant XiaoAI to help manage content and fully customize the viewing experience. However, just like the 98-inch relative, it seems unlikely the Redmi Max 86 will make an appearance beyond the borders of China anytime soon.

Samsung introduced its Galaxy E series back in 2015 where the very-first model was the Samsung Galaxy E7. But for some internal reasons, Samsung had stopped manufacturing devices of this E series. But a recent report has come out saying that Samsung is going to launch its next E series smartphone, the Galaxy E02 very soon in India, and the main thing is that the support page of this phone has gone live which strongly justifies its imminent launch.

As per the support page of the upcoming Samsung device, the model number we’ve seen is SM-E025F/DS and it looks similar to what we’ve witnessed at the time of the Galaxy M02s, a budget-friendly Samsung device, model number: SM-M025F. So, we can assume that the SM-E025F/DS model number signifies the device Samsung Galaxy E02.

Next, we’ve come to know some of the key specifications of the device, credit goes to the Wi-Fi Alliance and India’s BIS certifications. As per those listings, the Galaxy E02 will run on the Android 10 OS and supports Wi-Fi 2.4GHz.

Steam Remote Play Together feature now brings users together without having any Steam account

Valve, one of the world’s largest game distributors, announced an addition to the Remote Play Together features of the company’s Steam gaming platform this week. It gives users the option to play games with others, even if the invited users don’t have the game in their library, which is pretty awesome. I am mooching off Valhalla from my friends.

However, the feature only works on selecting games up until now and requires that every participating user has Steam installed and a Steam account.

But the new update is even more amazing; it allows users who don’t have Steam installed or a Steam account to be invited. It has already been launched in the beta clients of Steam and enables Steam users to invite users who don’t use Steam to participate in the game.

The invite links have to be created by the Steam user (obviously) and then provided to others. The next step depends on whether Steam is installed on the device or not. If it is installed and if the user has an account, it is used to enable the Remote Play Together functionality.

However, in the case of users who do not have Steam or a Steam account, a prompt to install the Steam Link application will appear; this app will enable the Remote Play Together functionality.

Steam Link App is available for Windows, Raspberry Pi, Google Android, and Apple iOS.

Here is what you need to do to make use of the new feature:

  1. Currently, it is only available in Steam Beta; it will eventually be released in stable versions.
    • To join the beta, select View > Settings > Account > Change under Beta Participation, and join the Beta program. A restart is required.
  2. Open your library.
  3. Select the filter icon at the top.
  4. Pick the “Remote Play Together” filter to list all games that support the feature.
  5. Start one of the games.
  6. Open your Friends list.
  7. An icon to copy the Remote Play Together link is provided at the top.
  8. Send that link to a friend.

For now, this feature only works on some titles and can only be used to invite only one non-steam user. it certainly will improve in the future.

AMD’s MI200 ‘Aldebaran’ to feature HBM2E memory support

AMD’s next-generation Instinct accelerator, the MI200, is expected to feature an MCM GPU design. According to the latest information, the red team has decided to increase the production of its upcoming GPU design.

The 2020 AMD Instinct family will all have CDNA based architecture. The first generation CDNA flagship, the Instinct MI100, was internally codenamed Arcturus. The successor to the Instinct MI100, the MI200, will be named after a huge star and this time. And according to sources, it is expected to be known as Aldebaran.

Reports indicate that in the latest Linux patch support (via Phoronix), the AMD Instinct MI200 could be known as Aldebaran, a giant star located within the constellation of Taur that has a solar radius of 44.13 or 75% more than Arcturus.

If we go with that theory, we can conclude that the Aldebaran will be twice as powerful as Arcturus. The AMD Instinct MI200 ‘Aldebaran’ GPU will feature HBM2E memory support, which allows up to 16 GB memory capacity per stack to expect up to 64 GB HBM2E memory blisteringly fast speeds for Aldebaran.

Other features include SDMA (System Direct Memory Access) support which allows data transfers over PCIe and XGMI/Infinity Cache subsystems. Rumors indicate that AMD will incorporate its new Infinity Cache design on upcoming Instinct accelerators too. There will also be a new mode known as Performance Determinism in which the PMFW will maintain a sustained performance level.

The new MI200, based on AMD’s cDNA 2 GPU will be fabricated on a brand new process node and will feature a 3rd Generation AMD Infinity architecture that extends to Exascale by allowing up to 8-Way coherent GPU connectivity. It will certainly be interesting to see the real-world performance of the new design.

According to sources, the SpaceX-owned satellite broadband service will be launching in most of the regions of India. For now, we don’t have any confirmation about the exact roadmap and timing of the rollout in India. However, the news is but confirmed that Starlink satellite broadband services are coming to India.

Starlink has communicated with potential subscribers. the company is now accepting preorders for $99, to reserve one of the first installations for you in your region or location, when the service is activated for India.

For the price of $99, you get all the Starlink equipment that you’ll need to access the satellite broadband service.

“By placing your Deposit Payment, you have established priority within your region for purchasing the Starlink Kit when available.”

Subscribers can make the payment via credit cards and debit cards. The Starlink hardware kits are expected to be in limited supply, at least in the initial months, of the launch of the Starlink satellite broadband in India.
