While overall car sales fell by about 0.5 percent last year, SUV sales increased by 3 percent. They accounted for 46 percent of global automobile sales. According to a recent International Energy Agency analysis, carbon dioxide emissions from SUVs around the world are on the verge of exceeding an enormous threshold: nearly 1 billion tonnes of CO2 annually (IEA).

For comparison, that is nearly twice as much climate pollution as the UK emitted in 2021. While non-SUV passenger car oil demand remained flat between 2021 and 2022, global SUV oil consumption increased by 500,000 barrels per day.

People are buying electric vehicles in greater numbers, with sales increasing by 60% by 2022. For the first time, electric SUVs accounted for slightly more than half of all EVs sold last year. EVs still emit particle pollution from tyre, brake, and roadway wear and tear, which is extremely harmful to air quality. This type of pollution is more prevalent in heavier vehicles. India Vs Australia : Australia are on the verge of winning their first Test on their tour of India as they need just 76 runs in their second innings to go past India’s overall total in the third Test at Indore. Nathan Lyon was the chief architect of the downfall of the Indian batting lineup in the 2nd innings. India were bundled out for 163 with Cheteshwar Pujara top-scoring with 59 off 142 deliveries. Shreyas Iyer, R Ashwin and Axar Patel played good hands but they were not enough to take the side to a big total.

  1. Nathan Lyon’s magic: Australian spinner Nathan Lyon took 8 wickets for his team, running havoc on the Indian batters. Captain Virat Kohli has been dismissed cheaply in both innings, which has hurt the team’s chances of putting up a big score. India will need to improve their batting performance if they want to win the remaining matches in the series.

Australia are in a dominant position in the 3rd Test and are likely to win the match on Day 3. WhatsApp brings Newsletter feature to its new beta 2.23.5.8 Android App

WhatsApp has just released a long-awaited feature in the beta version of its Android app: a newsletter tool. The incoming feature, currently dubbed Newsletters, was discovered by WABetaInfo in WhatsApp’s most recent Android beta (version 2.23.5.8) and indicates that the messaging app is about to enter the popular news format that has traditionally resided in our email inbox.

As early previews indicate, the Newsletter feature will be prominently displayed in WhatsApp’s Status tab. By clicking the plus icon and entering a username, you’ll be able to “stay updated on topics that matter to you” and subscribe to new newsletters.

According to WABetaInfo, they will effectively sit outside the latter – your personal messages will remain secure, but newsletters will hide or mask the phone numbers of anyone who creates or subscribes to one. The newsletters feature will simply exist in its own section of your Status tab. The ones you subscribe to will appear to be displayed chronologically, with no ads or algorithmic interference.

What isn’t clear yet is what kind of newsletters will appear on WhatsApp and who will create them.

Because of WhatsApp Groups’ popularity, it appears likely that they will be a useful way to get updates from local organisations, sports groups, or official sources such as city councils.

However, unlike WhatsApp’s Communities feature, which debuted in November 2022 and has a limit of 5,000 members, the Newsletter tool appears to have no limit on the total number of subscribers. That means brands and Substack creators could use it as an additional channel to reach fans who want regular updates on specific topics.
