What Is Our Universe About?

Our Universe follows two in-laws — twenty-eight-year-olds Seon Tae-hyung and Woo Hyun-jin — whose lives are upended when they are forced to raise their orphaned infant nephew Woo-ju following the sudden death of his parents, who were their respective siblings. ComingSoon.net

Seon Tae-hyung (Bae In Hyuk) works as an assistant photographer — a free-spirited person carrying hidden pain. Woo Hyun-jin (Roh Jeong Eui) is a job seeker dreaming of an ordinary daily life. The two don’t get along and bicker over everything — until tragedy bonds them and one baby completely rewires their lives. The Hollywood Reporter

Tae-hyung shows real promise as a photographer but carries the weight of having grown up in an orphanage and not graduating from a prestigious university. UPI That emotional backstory gives Bae In Hyuk room to deliver some of the finest understated work of his career — and audiences have noticed.

Our Universe Controversy — Why Some Fans Are Frustrated

Not all has been smooth sailing. The drama generated heated debate mid-run, with a significant portion of viewers frustrated by the amount of screen time given to the second male lead, Park Yoon-seong (Park Seo Ham), at the expense of the central couple. Fan forums lit up with complaints that the second lead was receiving first-lead treatment — storylines, scenes, and emotional beats that should have belonged to Tae-hyung and Hyun-jin.

Despite the writing criticisms, Bae In Hyuk’s performance consistently earned praise. The series also marked a significant moment for tvN — it revived the network’s Wednesday–Thursday drama time slot after a three-year hiatus since May 2023.

Why the Finale Matters

The final episode of Our Universe airs on March 12 at 10:40 PM KST. The Hollywood Reporter After 12 episodes of grief, growth, accidental cohabitation, and one impossibly adorable baby, fans are desperate for a satisfying conclusion — one that honours everything Tae-hyung and Hyun-jin have been through together.

The Korean drama genre is famous for its ability to transform even the most bittersweet premises into uplifting, cathartic endings. Whether Our Universe sticks the landing tonight is the only question that remains.
