Oracle Reportedly Planning Fresh Layoffs This Month

Oracle isn’t done trimming its workforce. According to a report cited by India Today, the company is planning another round of layoffs this month, just months after one of the largest job cuts in the tech industry’s recent history.

What’s Being Reported

Multiple outlets, including Business Insider and Business Today, report that Oracle managers have already been asked to identify employees who could be affected, with some teams reportedly facing double-digit percentage reductions. The timing lines up with Oracle’s second fiscal quarter beginning September 1, suggesting the company wants cuts finalized before that period starts. The Numbers So Far

Why This Keeps Happening

Oracle’s layoffs this year have been closely tied to its aggressive pivot toward AI and cloud infrastructure. The company has been spending heavily on data center expansion — including its role in OpenAI’s Stargate initiative — while simultaneously cutting roles elsewhere, a pattern that reflects a broader industry shift toward automation and AI-driven efficiency. Oracle isn’t alone here either; Meta, Amazon, Google Cloud and Microsoft have all trimmed headcount for similar reasons this year.

Reports on the March 2026 round indicated India’s operations were significantly affected, with the Oracle India Development Centre in Bengaluru among the hardest-hit locations. Whether this next round follows the same pattern remains unconfirmed, but given India’s large share of Oracle’s global workforce, it’s a reasonable concern for employees there.

Has Oracle Confirmed Anything?

Not yet. As of this report, Oracle has not officially commented on the layoff plans, and no specific numbers or affected teams have been confirmed publicly. That’s worth keeping in mind — this remains sourced reporting rather than a company announcement. Official statements, when they come, are typically published via Oracle’s investor relations page.

What This Means Going Forward

With Oracle’s share price near an all-time high and the company continuing to sign massive AI infrastructure deals, the layoffs highlight an uncomfortable pattern playing out across the industry: strong financial performance isn’t preventing workforce cuts, and in some cases appears to be accelerating them as companies redirect spending toward AI capacity.
