OPPO’s ColorOS 16 July Update Makes Your Phone Feel Personally Yours

Your phone unlocks a hundred times a day — so why shouldn’t that moment feel like you? OPPO clearly agrees. The brand has just rolled out the ColorOS 16 July Monthly Update, packing in fresh personalisation tools, creative camera filters, and under-the-hood performance boosts.

This isn’t a flashy annual overhaul — it’s the kind of steady, thoughtful update that quietly makes daily phone use smoother and more expressive. Here’s everything it brings.

1. Custom Fingerprint Unlock Animations

Unlocking your phone just got a personality upgrade. The update introduces new fingerprint unlock animations and icon styles that users can mix and match to build a look that’s uniquely theirs. It’s a small interaction, used dozens of times a day, now turned into a genuine style statement.

2. New Primrose And Bold B&W Camera Filters

Photography gets two new creative tools built right into the native camera app. Primrose leans into warm, soft portrait tones, while Bold B&W delivers dramatic, high-contrast monochrome shots. Whether you’re capturing golden-hour portraits or moody street photography, these filters make it easier to express mood without needing a separate editing app.

3. Contact Poster Preview

Calling just got more visual. Users can now preview and customise Contact Posters before assigning them — giving more control over exactly how they appear to friends and family during calls. It’s a small but meaningful upgrade for anyone who cares about how their digital presence looks.

4. Smoother Performance And Face Unlock Upgrades

Multitasking gets a fluidity boost with smoother transition animations across Recent Tasks, making app-switching feel more seamless. Face Unlock also becomes more dependable with support for a backup face profile — useful for changing lighting, angles, or everyday scenarios where a single profile might struggle.

Additional Refinements

Beyond the headline features, OPPO has bundled in general system refinements and performance optimisations aimed at improving overall responsiveness — the kind of behind-the-scenes polish that adds up over time.

Eligible Devices And Rollout

The update is rolling out in phases through July across the following OPPO devices:

• Find X9 Ultra
• Find X9s
• Find X9 Pro
• Find X9
• Reno15 Pro 5G
• Reno15 5G
• Reno14 Pro 5G
• Reno14 5G

OPPO’s approach here reflects a broader industry shift toward continuous software refinement rather than waiting for major yearly releases — a strategy increasingly common across the Android ecosystem, where monthly updates now carry real feature value, not just security patches.

Why This Update Matters

It’s easy to overlook monthly software updates, but this one hits a sweet spot — meaningful personalisation, genuinely useful camera tools, and real performance polish, all without asking users to relearn their phone. For eligible OPPO users, it’s a solid reason to check for the update this week.
