Oh My Guard Teaser: Jung Yong Hwa Meets a Mysterious Fan Who Thinks She’s His Drama’s Heroine, Premiering Oct 24

What happens when the female lead of your drama steps out of the screen and into your life? That’s the delightfully strange question behind Oh My Guard, a new romance drama that just dropped its first teaser. With Jung Yong Hwa playing a rattled star and Hong Seung Hee as a woman who seems to know too much, the setup promises comedy, mystery, and romance in equal measure. Here’s what we know.

Oh My Guard : Overview

Oh My Guard: Story

The drama follows an unpredictable romance between Uhm Tae Bong and Oh Hae Ra. He’s a top actor with a fatal flaw, while she’s a mysterious woman who believes she is Cha Hong Doo, the female lead of his drama. It’s a fun twist on the fan-meets-star setup, because her belief blurs the line between fiction and reality.

Meet Uhm Tae Bong

Jung Yong Hwa plays a renowned master of romance dramas who always refuses to film kissing scenes. He’s confident in his looks and acting skills, and he’s carrying a secret he can’t share with anyone. He’s also charismatic, with a knack for witty banter and a playful side that pops up unexpectedly, which should make for entertaining scenes.

What the Teaser Shows?

The teaser opens inside The Prince’s Bodyguard, the drama-within-a-drama starring Tae Bong. In one scene, a prince who thinks someone is after his life tells his bodyguard, Cha Hong Doo, that he trusts her to protect him. Then the story shifts to real life, where Oh Hae Ra, a devoted fan who has only ever seen Tae Bong on TV, rushes out with firm resolve, afraid she might never get another chance to meet him. She seems as though she has never left her home before, which raises questions about her background.

The big reveal is that Cha Hong Doo and Oh Hae Ra are the same person. When Tae Bong meets her, he can’t hide his confusion at this suspicious woman who seems to know him so well, and he asks who exactly she is.

The Team Behind It

The series is co-directed by Yoon Jong Ho, who led the phenomenon behind Lovely Runner and showed his skills in A Bona Fide Killer, and Lee Seung Hoon of Doctor Shin. That’s a strong pairing for a romance with a mystery twist.

While You Wait?

The drama premieres October 24, so there’s time to catch up. Jung Yong Hwa’s earlier work in Brain Works is available on Viki. For more previews, browse our K-drama updates and entertainment news on Technosports.
