East Bengal is going to start their ISL journey from this season. Today they finally confirmed the new logo and their new name.
East Bengal will know as ‘Sporting Club East Bengal’ from now on.
East Bengal has tied with ‘Shree Cement’ as their sponsor from this season. Shree Cement has a 76% share of the club. East Bengal board will be of 10 members. Out of those, 8 will be from Shree Cement and the other 2 will be from East Bengal Club.
After all these, they submitted the bid papers and other documents to FSDL to play in ISL. Then it was also told that East Bengal will play only with their name.
After some days, reports suggested some other things. It was reported that they will add ‘SC’ before their name which denotes ‘Shree Cement’.
Though the owner and managing director of Shree Cement, Hari Mohan Bangur said, “East Bengal will play with their name only. We are not here for business. We are here to be part of the legacy. East Bengal has its legacy and we respect that.”
So, they finally added ‘SC’ in their name. But it denotes ‘Sporting Club’.
Today he said, “The club’s new logo retains the primary assets like the emblem of a flaming torch and its colors which showcases a merger between the rich legacy of East Bengal, its contribution to Indian football along with Shree Cement’s support to keep the flag flying high.”
“It’s the start of the new and exciting partnership for all of us with East Bengal, and we’re happy to share the evolution of the club’s logo. Our crest and brand identity have been a bold one, and I am sure that this will only take the legacy of the club forward.”
East Bengal has also changed their twitter handle with a new one. From @eastbengalfc to @sc_eastbengal.
