Odisha FC 2-3 Hyderabad FC: 3 key talking points from entertaining ISL encounter

Hyderabad FC defeated Odisha FC 3-2 to take all three points from the entertaining encounter. They now have a three-point advantage at the top of the table, although the teams directly below have two games in hand.

3 hard-earned points for Hyderabad FC

The first half ended with Jerry scoring the first goal for Odisha FC against the run of play. Hyderabad FC were the better team in the first half, but were unable to take their chances. However, they would not trail for long as they scored three goals in the second half to bury the game and seal all three points.

Odisha FC put up a strong fight

Despite giving up a goal advantage in the second half, Odisha FC were not willing to sit back and accept defeat. They challenged the table toppers until the very end, and snatched a goal back during the final minutes of the game, courtesy of Jonathas Cristian. This set up a very nervous ending for the game, but HFC were ultimately able to hold on and take the win.

Interestingly, Odisha only had two shots on target in the game, suggesting a 100% shot conversion rate for the ones on target. However, this example shows that the stats actually prove very little in the game.

Topsy-turvy season for Odisha FC

Odisha have had a very tumultuous season this time. Despite looking like one of the surefire teams to break into the top four, they are currently in seventh place, although only one point away from fourth place.

However, with the current top four having games in hand, things could be looking bleak for Odisha in the business end of the season.
