There’s something bittersweet about watching O Romeo at the box office right now. It’s doing just well enough to give fans hope — but not quite well enough to shake off the “expensive disappointment” label that’s quietly been sticking to it since Day 1.

What’s Actually Happening at the Box Office?
O Romeo collected approximately Rs. 3 crore nett on its sixth day, which signals a 30–35% drop from Monday — steeper than the industry’s comfortable benchmark of around 20%. That kind of midweek slide tells you the organic audience pull isn’t quite there.

Here’s the thing though: Wednesday’s Rs. 3 crore figure is still higher than what you’d typically expect from a film with an Rs. 8 crore Sunday. The reason? The BOGO (Buy One Get One) offer that’s been artificially propping up footfalls. Without it, the numbers would paint a bleaker picture.
On the bright side, Monday and Tuesday had briefly sparked optimism with surprisingly strong holds — for a moment, a Rs. 50 crore finish looked achievable. Wednesday has cooled those hopes somewhat, but Rs. 50 crore is still within reach given the current trajectory.
The overseas numbers aren’t helping either. With USD 1.75 million (~Rs. 16 crore) in international markets, the worldwide gross sits at approximately Rs. 64 crore — not the kind of global traction a bigbudget Bollywood release needs to justify its production costs.
And that’s the core problem. O Romeo is an expensive film. Analysts suggest it needed at least double the Rs. 50 crore mark — closer to Rs. 100 crore — to make genuine financial sense at the box office. At Rs. 42 crore by end of Week 1, the film is staring at a significant theatrical shortfall.
Shahid Kapoor and Tripti Dimri both delivered committed performances, and the film clearly found an audience — just not a large enough one. For more Bollywood box office analysis and daily collection updates, stay tuned to TechnoSports.
