The growing popularity of ChatGPT, an AI-powered language tool, has transformed NVIDIA GPUs into literal gold for the burgeoning AI industry. ChatGPT and other language/image/video generation tools rely heavily on AI processing power, which NVIDIA excels at.
The company is known for its lightning-fast gaming GPUs, but AI is another strong suit that has seen increased success in recent years. NVIDIA clearly has a significant advantage in AI over the competition, which includes Intel and AMD.
With its Hopper H100 and Ampere A100 architectures, NVIDIA currently has the fastest AI GPUs on the market.
Both chips have been banned from the Russian and Chinese markets due to their potential use in military assistance, but the company still sells revised variants in China.
Not only are these tools where AI is important, but there is also a large demand for faster AI power in the data centre, cloud, and automotive segments, all of which NVIDIA dominates with its GPUs. The company has grown by more than 40% in a single month, and the current stock is up by more than 45%. (this month).
NVIDIA is putting its AI prowess to good use and turning gold into profits, according to Bloomberg, with CEO Jensen Huang adding $5.1 billion US to his wealth this year, the single largest and “largest percentage gain” among other US billionaires.
