The shortage of supplies brought forth by the pandemic and the rise in cryptocurrency resulted in the shortage of graphics cards in the retail market. And even if the cards were available then they had inflated prices as the demand exceeded the supply with a huge margin.

However, even though the problem started in 2020, this year the shortage and high price of Graphics cards are still to quench. But, the good news is that the latest pricing figures out of 3DCenter suggest that graphics card prices are dropping in Germany.

According to the figures received from German retailers, the prices for the latest Nvidia and AMD graphics cards have both settled down to 153% of MSRP. This the average rate of the graphics cards available in the country. Now many may ask that paying 153% of the original MSRP for the cards is still quite excessive, and you are right the price is still high. However, it sure as damn hell not as high as paying 304% of the MSRP to buy graphics, which in fact by the way was the average selling price for an Nvidia GPU in mid-May.

Now after a month and a half later and we’re looking at a much more favourable GPU market, at least it’s better than before. According to reports, the price of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 30-series GPUs has declined at a faster pace than AMD Radeon RX 6000-series.

From the retail reports coming out of Germany it was found that the average price for an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 in the country today is between €799–€1,490, down from €1,498–€1,649 on May 16. However, the original price of the card during the launch was €519.

AMD’s Radeon RX 6800 XT on the other hand, is available for €1,089–1,499, and its price during the launch was €649. But, the problem with AMD is that it is yet to supply adequate cards to meet the growing demand, something which Nvidia is doing a much better job at.

In other news, China reported slight improvements in the pricing of the cards, as the demand for cryptocurrency is currently not so high in the country owing to many crackdowns on mining. There are also reports of GPU prices dropping in Russia too.
