Nothing‘s CEO Carl Pei has shared some information about the company’s upcoming TWS earbuds, which is the Ear (1), in an exclusive interview with TechCrunch where he has shared a few things about launching his latest hardware company. The name of the earbuds is unique like its design, which has been shared by the company. The company says Nothing Ear (1) will be released initially in the UK, India, Europe, and North America following their announcement on July 27th.

Carl Pei has mentioned that Ear (1) will have “features like noise cancellation and great build quality”. Apart from this, he has also mentioned that the upcoming earbuds will be priced at $99 USD, €99 Euros, and £99. This confirms that NOTHING Ear (1) is going to be a proper high-end earbud that will feature noise cancellation but will be priced under $100, which is really amazing.

Nothing’s CEO Carl Pei also told TechCrunch that Ear (1) will be very similar to Apple AirPods Pro, which is now priced at $249. So the Nothing ear (1) seems to be a much cheaper option in this case. Noise-cancelling earbuds are pretty much common nowadays, which can also be seen in Soundcore Liberty Air 2 Pro which is priced at $129, while Amazon’s second-generation Echo Buds include ANC and start at $120.

Carl Pei used the TechCrunch interview to clarify why Nothing decided to acquire the Essential brand. “[B]efore we were called Nothing, ‘Essential’ was one of the names we were brainstorming, internally,” Pei told TechCrunch. “So that’s why we’ve acquired the trademark. We don’t have any plans to do anything with Essential.” The smartphone manufacturer, which was started by Android creator Andy Rubin after he left Google, shut down in early 2020 after releasing just one phone.
