OnePlus co-founder and CEO/founder of Nothing, Carl Pei is currently teasing an Android and Snapdragon-powered device that can release under the company that has so far been known for its Nothing ear(1) TWS buds.
Pei teased the news by providing an intro on how he is back to using Android and appreciates Android 12. Under normal circumstances, we would brush it off assuming the CEO is sharing his personal preferences on his social media handle.
Here’s the twist, the official Android and Snapdragon accounts also replied to the tweet by Pei which suggests that there may be a partnership behind the scenes. It is safe to assume that the device will be an Android smartphone.
Carl Pei has been vocal about branching out into different products but a smartphone is a rather big leap for a company that has earned a name for producing only TWS earbuds. However, it comes as no surprise as Nothing was planning to release its own phone sooner or later.
There is no other leak or render out there that gives us an idea of what we can expect from Nothing’s first smartphone. It will be exciting as Carl Pei and his team is very experienced. Just a friendly reminder, Pei and his fellow founders and experts all played a pivotal role in establishing OnePlus as a flagship smartphone killer manufacturer.
With respect to the OS, we are not sure if the device will get a flagship Android or stock Android experience. It will be exciting to watch what Nothing offers!
