Nike’s most iconic running shoe just got its biggest upgrade in years. The Nike Pegasus 42 launches in India on April 9, 2026 at ₹12,995 — and it’s the most responsive Pegasus ever built, with 15% greater energy return than the Pegasus 41 and a full-length curved Air Zoom unit that finally brings the propulsive feel of Nike’s elite road racers to an everyday trainer.

Nike Pegasus 42: Full Specs and Key Upgrades
The spring structure under the toes is the most technically clever detail — adding 3mm of forefoot cushioning without increasing stack height in the rest of the shoe.

What Actually Changed — and Why It Matters
The curved Air Zoom unit is the defining upgrade. Previous Pegasus models used a flatter Air configuration; the curved geometry stores and releases energy more efficiently through the gait cycle, particularly at toe-off. The result, per Nike, is a “bouncy, powerful sensation never before felt in a Pegasus model” — closer in feel to the Alphafly race shoes than any previous Pegasus has been.
The forefoot spring structure is the engineering detail most runners will feel but never see: an internal component that allows Nike to add 3mm of cushioning under the toes — the highest-impact zone during a push-off — without raising the overall stack height. That means the shoe doesn’t feel taller or less stable than the Pegasus 41, but forefoot impact absorption is meaningfully better on longer runs.

The modified last gives more room across the forefoot — a common request from Pegasus loyalists who found the 41 slightly narrow. Combined with the fully moulded sock liner and midfoot support system, the fit is more secure and comfortable from the first run.
For all-day runners logging 50–70km a week across different paces, the Pegasus 42 is Nike’s definitive daily trainer recommendation for 2026. It sits at the heart of Nike’s simplified road running lineup alongside the Vomero 18 (maximum cushioning) and Structure 26 (supportive/stable cushioning).
