Netflix’s Yeti Movie: Michael Chaves Is Bringing Survival Terror to the Swiss Alps in 2026

Netflix has quietly been cooking up something wild—a creature-feature thriller that’s about to unleash a prehistoric predator onto your screens. The Yeti movie from director Michael Chaves is gearing up for production, and honestly, it sounds like the kind of adrenaline-pumping ride that’ll keep you on the edge of your seat.

What’s the Yeti Movie All About?

Picture this: A remote stretch of the Swiss Alps. An avalanche tears open ancient glacial ice, releasing a primeval creature perfectly camouflaged for snow-covered landscapes. Chaos erupts, and caught in the middle is a father-daughter duo trying to survive something as relentless as the mountains themselves.

The protagonist, Zoey, is a headstrong teen dealing with her parents’ divorce. Rather than accepting defeat, she challenges her father to fight for what matters—all while a deadly creature hunts them through whiteout conditions. It’s a story about rebuilding family bonds under the most extreme circumstances imaginable.

Who’s Behind the Camera?

Michael Chaves is the creative force you might know from recent horror hits like The Conjuring: The Devil’s Rites and The Nun II. He’s earned the title of James Wan’s “heir apparent” in the horror universe, bringing serious credibility to this project. Writers Peter Gaffney (Rugrats animation veteran) and Sean Tretta (12 Monkeys, Mayans M.C.) crafted the script, while PictureStart production handles the logistics.

Netflix’s Monster Movie Momentum

This Yeti movie follows Netflix’s successful formula established by creature features like Troll and Under Paris—both streaming giants that dominated Netflix’s all-time most-watched list. The streaming platform clearly understands what audiences crave: heart-pounding survival narratives combined with impossible odds.
