Netflix’s Viral TikTok Comedy Gets the Full Series Treatment

Netflix is doubling down on short-form content, and Minimum Wage is leading the charge. Based on the viral TikTok hit American High Shorts, the new comedy series has landed Randall Park to play the pizza shop’s eccentric manager, joining the original cast that made the sketches a social media sensation.

Everything We Know So Far

What’s the Show About?

Minimum Wage is set inside a chaotic local pizza shop, following teenage employees navigating power-tripping managers, unhinged rush hours, and classic service-industry burnout. Netflix’s official logline puts it simply: “The stakes are low. The pressure is immense.”

The original ensemble — Aidan Micho, Grace Reiter, Hyde Healy, Julia Dicesare, Luke Burke, Ryan Micho, and Tommy Armstrong — all return to reprise their roles, with Randall Park stepping in as the shop’s eccentric boss. It marks his return to Netflix workplace comedy after the short-lived Blockbuster.

Why This Matters for Netflix

The series is part of a bigger strategy: Netflix’s push into vertical, TikTok-style content through its new “Clips” mobile feature. Showrunners Garelick and Phelps described their approach as finding “the funniest kids in the room” and building coming-of-age comedy “in the spirit of John Hughes for the generation that grew up on a screen.”
