A Dream Cast for a Dream Story

Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice — first published in 1813 — remains the gold standard of romantic storytelling, and Netflix has assembled a cast worthy of the source material.

Emma Corrin (The Crown, Deadpool & Wolverine) steps into the iconic shoes of Elizabeth Bennet, while Jack Lowden (Slow Horses) brings brooding magnetism to Mr. Darcy. The Bennet parents are played by Academy Award winner Olivia Colman and Rufus Sewell — yes, you read that right, and yes, it’s as incredible as it sounds.

The supporting ensemble is equally impressive: Louis Partridge (Enola Holmes) as the charming rogue Wickham, Freya Mavor as Jane Bennet, Jamie Demetriou as the delightfully awkward Mr. Collins, and Fiona Shaw as the formidable Lady Catherine de Bourgh.

Filming is already complete — wrapped in November 2025 across picturesque London and Kent locations — meaning the series is polished and ready to debut.

Why This Adaptation Could Be Special

Writer Dolly Alderton has promised both familiar warmth and fresh perspective. Director Euros Lyn, known for the deeply human storytelling of Heartstopper, brings emotional sensitivity that should make Lizzie and Darcy’s slow-burn romance hit even harder than usual. Produced by Lookout Point — the BBC Studios company behind Happy Valley and Gentleman Jack — quality period drama is essentially guaranteed.
