Netflix’s Nemesis Left Everyone Breathless — And the Creator Already Has Season 2 Plans Ready to Go

The Power universe mastermind just made her Netflix debut, and she’s not done yet. Courtney A. Kemp’s Nemesis dropped all eight episodes on May 14, 2026, instantly became one of the most talked-about new crime thriller series on the platform — and the creator has already confirmed that a Season 2 blueprint exists. Here’s everything you need to know about renewal prospects, the jaw-dropping Season 1 finale, and what comes next.

Nemesis Season 2 — Overview

What Is Nemesis About?

Nemesis follows Lieutenant Isaiah Stiles (Matthew Law), a single-minded LAPD detective whose laser-focused obsession is centred on bringing down the crew of thieves responsible for killing his partner, and heist mastermind Coltrane Wilder (Y’lan Noel), a calculating criminal genius who has fooled the entire city into believing he has gone legit. The series becomes a tense cat-and-mouse game between two men, each willing to sacrifice everything to win — blending high-stakes heist thrills with explosive family dynamics and a deeply personal rivalry. Think Heat meets Power, set against the gritty backdrop of Los Angeles. TV Insider

How Did Season 1 End? (Spoilers)

The Season 1 finale left viewers reeling and screaming for more. The finale ends with Coltrane cornered by the Alvarez gang, Noah and Stiles, leading to a chaotic shootout that forces him to flee barefoot. Stiles eventually catches up with him, but things take a sharp turn when Noah is shot in the crossfire. Coltrane uses that moment to bargain for his freedom, convincing Stiles to let him go so he can help save Noah’s life. The Review Geek

Stiles is stripped of his badge and position. Wilder’s carefully constructed legitimate life crumbles. Candace, Stiles’s wife, flees into the arms of her college boyfriend. Both men are alive — but both have lost nearly everything. It’s a morally complex, deliberately open ending that practically demands a second season. Art Threat

Will There Be a Season 2?

As of right now, Netflix has not officially greenlit Nemesis for a second season, but all signs are pointing in a highly positive direction. The series is the number 2 series on Netflix globally, ranking in the top 10s in 83 countries. What’s on Netflix

Most critically, the creator herself has gone on record. Series creator Kemp confirmed in an Instagram live chat: “Do I have plans for a second season of Nemesis? Yeah. We do. We are working on it.” That’s as close to a guarantee as you get before Netflix’s official metrics come in. TV Insider

Netflix typically monitors a show’s viewership numbers and completion rates over the first 28 days before making a decision, but the creators have made it abundantly clear that Nemesis was never designed as a limited series — Courtney A. Kemp recently revealed there is already a “season 2 blueprint” in place. What’s on Netflix

Beyond creative ambition, there are real-world stakes too. Kemp told What’s on Netflix: “It was just after the fires that we started to shoot. Los Angeles was really at a low, so it was important. We really hope we have more seasons of this show so we can bring our amazing crew back.” What’s on Netflix

What Would Season 2 Look Like?

The Season 1 finale’s ending is a perfect setup for Season 2, with unresolved tensions and damaged relationships everywhere — neither man has truly let go of their nemesis. The unresolved questions are enormous: Does Noah survive? Does Coltrane return to Ebony? What really happened between Malik and Candace? Are Darren, Chris and Brinkley still alive?

If Season 1 was about obsession, Season 2 is shaping up to be about the catastrophic consequences of that obsession. And if the production timeline mirrors Season 1, a summer 2027 release date seems realistic — Season 1 was first announced in March 2025 and premiered in May 2026, meaning roughly 14 months passed from announcement to debut.
