What to Expect From Each?
From NEET to Peak (January 2027): Wataru Ichinose (Sanctuary) teams up with Suzu Hirose (Human Vapor, Asura). After eight years as a shut-in, Kanta Kakuhata faces reality when his mother receives a terminal diagnosis. He makes an absurd promise to marry Japan’s top idol before she dies. To do it, he has to leave home, make friends and treat life like a series of missions.
Parasyte: TAMIYA (2027): From the team behind the Korean series Parasyte: The Grey, this chapter follows Ryoko Tamiya, played by Kutsuna Shioli. In the original Parasyte manga, she’s a parasite who takes over a teacher’s body. Her job teaches her about humanity, and she starts to wonder whether coexisting with humans could help her species survive.
City Hunter 2 (2027): The live-action original drew 21.3 million views in 2024, making it one of Netflix’s most popular Japanese films. Ryohei Suzuki returns as Saeba Ryo, a Shinjuku “sweeper” who’s hopeless around beautiful women but flawless on the job, alongside Kaori Makimura and detective Saeko Nogami.
Last Samurai Standing, Season 2 (2027, TBA): The first season pulled in 21 million views in 2025 and another 5.2 million in early 2026. Set in 1878, it follows 292 fallen warriors racing from Kyoto to Tokyo for prize money, with former samurai Shujiro Saga uncovering a political conspiracy.
