Some athletes chase legacy through records. Others build it through the next generation. Neeraj Chopra, India’s Olympic javelin champion, just took that second path — stepping up from Ambassador to Co-owner of the UBS Athletics Kids Cup, one of India’s largest grassroots sports initiatives.

What’s Changing?

Chopra has backed the programme as Ambassador for two seasons already. Now, as Co-owner, he’s putting his name — and vision — directly behind its next phase of growth. “The more children play, the greater the chance of creating future champions,” he said, reflecting on why the move felt like a natural next step.

What Is the UBS Athletics Kids Cup?

It’s a grassroots sports initiative designed to introduce children to athletics through fun, inclusive competition. So far, it has reached:

250,000+ children
2,500+ schools
5 cities across India
Nearly 50% girl participants

The Bigger Vision

Co-founder Daniel Schenker, CEO of Dspowerparts, called Chopra’s move “the strongest validation any programme can receive” — someone who understands the sport firsthand choosing to invest personally in its future. With Chopra now on board as Co-owner, the initiative is targeting one million children nationwide, aiming to build one of the world’s largest grassroots sports movements while encouraging confidence, discipline, and lifelong participation in sport.
