Nations League 2022/23 results – 7 June: Germany and England draw; Italy top table

The Nations League saw England and Germany play out a 1-1 draw at the Allianz Arena, while Italy won against Hungary. Here is all the action that went down yesterday in the international fixtures. 

Nations League results 7th June 

  • Finland 2-0 Montenegro 
  • Germany 1-1 England 
  • Italy 2-1 Hungary 
  • Bosnia and Herzegovina 1-0 Romania 
  • Lithuania 0-6 Turkey 
  • Faroe Islands 0-1 Luxembourg 

Germany 1-1 England 

The two international giants played out a tight 1-1 draw in Munich, with Harry Kane scoring a penalty to salvage a point. Jonas Hoffman gave the home team the lead shortly into the second half, with a powerful shot taking a deflection past Jordan Pickford. 

Nico Schlotterbeck tripped Harry Kane in the penalty area in the final minutes of the game. And upon a VAR check, the referee pointed to the spot. The England captain scored his 50th international goal as his side were able to finish level in the nick of time. 

Italy 2-1 Hungary 

Following a loss in the Finalissima and a draw against Germany, Italy finally returned to winning ways against Hungary at home. Midfielders Nicolo Barella and Lorenzo Pellegrini scored for the Azzurri, while an own goal conceded by Gianluca Mancini prevented them from taking the clean sheet as well.

The Euro 2020 winners top their Nations League table with four points, Hungary are second with three points while Germany and England remain with two and one point each.
