Mysaa Teaser Out: Rashmika Mandanna’s Fierce Gond Warrior Takes On Underwater Action

Rashmika Mandanna is trading her usual glamorous roles for a raw, rugged transformation in the newly released teaser of Mysaa, an action drama that marks the directorial debut of Rawindra Pulle. The teaser wastes no time establishing the film’s intensity, cutting between Mandanna riding motorcycles through rough terrain and a striking underwater sequence where her character is shown submerged, sickle in hand.

The film follows a Gond tribal woman who refuses to be broken by circumstance, with the teaser built around her declaration, “I am tired, I have stopped, I have lost,” before she chooses to fight back against the forces working against her. It’s a premise that leans heavily into physical performance, and early reactions suggest Mandanna has committed fully to the demands of the role.

Mysaa: Key Details

The supporting cast reads like a who’s-who of South Indian character actors, including Eshwari Rao, Guru Somasundaram, Rao Ramesh, Rahul Ravindran, Samuthirakani, Shiva Kandukuri, Karthik Ranjini, Tarak Ponnappa and Nidhi Singh — a lineup that suggests a story with considerable ensemble depth beyond just its lead’s action sequences.

With international action choreographer Andy Long brought in to stage the film’s set pieces and a simultaneous five-language release planned, the production is clearly positioning Mysaa as a pan-India action tentpole rather than a regional release with limited crossover ambitions. The tribal-warrior premise also gives Mandanna a chance to shed her rom-com image in favour of something grittier.

Whether the film can convert its striking teaser visuals into a genuinely compelling narrative will become clearer as the promotional campaign ramps up ahead of the November release.

This marks another notable pivot for Mandanna following her recent run of pan-India projects, continuing a broader trend among leading actresses in South Indian cinema of taking on physically demanding, action-first roles rather than staying confined to conventional romantic leads.

The choice of a debutant director for a project of this scale is also notable, suggesting the producers backed Rawindra Pulle’s vision strongly enough to hand him a five-language pan-India release for his first feature — a bet that will be closely watched by the industry regardless of the film’s eventual box office outcome.
