Mun Ka Young and Cha Eun Woo’s New Drama Hits a Casting Plot Twist

Fans were already buzzing about a True Beauty reunion. Then the news flipped the script. Mun Ka Young has reportedly turned down Cha Eun Woo’s upcoming drama, and Shin Ye Eun may be taking her place.

Mun Ka Young Casting Status

What Happened?

On October 19, Hankyung.com reported that Mun Ka Young had decided against joining the project, after being linked to it in September. Studio Dragon responded that it had offered her a role and that her possible appearance was still under discussion. So nothing is officially closed yet.

Later that day, The Fact reported that Shin Ye Eun had been cast as Princess Deokyeong. Her agency, npio Entertainment, was more careful, saying only that she had received an offer and was reviewing it.

A Plot That Tastes Like Fantasy

The story follows an Italian chef nicknamed the “temptation of the Mediterranean,” who owns a one-Michelin-star restaurant. A 1,000-year-old prophecy hidden in a gold-plated honey box sends him back in time to Silla. There he meets a demanding gourmet princess, and together they chase the finest flavors in the kingdom. Cha Eun Woo is reportedly in talks to play the chef, and you can read his profile on Wikipedia.

Meet Princess Deokyeong

She belongs to the royal bloodline’s highest class and dreams of becoming Silla’s first queen. She’s deeply religious and endlessly curious, with a sharp sense for incense and food and a gifted eye for calligraphy and painting. It’s a rich role, and whoever lands it will have plenty to play with.

The Missed Reunion

Mun Ka Young and Cha Eun Woo last shared the screen in the 2020 hit True Beauty. A seven-year reunion would have been a dream for fans, so this news stings a little. Still, you can rewatch the pair on Viki while casting settles. Shin Ye Eun fans can also stream A Hundred Memories.
