YouTube star Jimmy Donaldson, better known as MrBeast, has unveiled an ambitious community project in Ghana that he says cost around $10 million. The project, built in Abna Dakwa, aims to improve living conditions for families and give children better access to education instead of illegal labour.
According to reports and details shared through MrBeast’s latest video, the project took around eight months to complete. The initiative includes a new school, homes, clean-water facilities, solar power, drainage infrastructure and community facilities.

MrBeast: A new school for more than 300 children
One of the major changes is the replacement of an old school building that reportedly had no doors or windows and a dirt floor. More than 300 children attended the school, but flooding during heavy rain could disrupt classes and make it difficult for students to attend.
The new school is designed to provide a safer learning environment. Students are also set to receive free meals for five years, while the project includes teacher accommodation and other facilities intended to support education in the community.
The children were also involved in designing their playground, while a football field has been added to the community.
Homes, clean water and solar power
The project goes beyond education. New homes have been constructed with access to running water, while a water system and sanitation facilities have been added to address basic infrastructure needs.
Solar panels have also been installed to provide electricity. New drainage systems are intended to reduce flooding and prevent water from cutting off access to the village.
Residents also requested facilities including a community centre, farm and marketplace, which were incorporated into the wider development.
Why MrBeast says he built the village?
Donaldson has said the project is connected to his broader effort to help children and families move away from illegal child labour in Ghana’s cocoa-growing communities. Beast Philanthropy says its Ghana programme focuses on education, clean water, food security and locally led solutions to child labour.
Before the video was released, MrBeast acknowledged that his philanthropic content may attract fewer views than his usual entertainment videos. He nevertheless said helping people gives him a sense of purpose and that he intends to continue such projects.
Beast Philanthropy says its wider work has delivered more than 48 million meals, raised more than $40 million for clean-water access and directly benefited more than 10,000 people in Ghana.
The Abna Dakwa project therefore represents a significant expansion of MrBeast’s approach to philanthropy—using his enormous online audience to fund and document long-term community projects.
