Motorola Edge S launched in China with Snapdragon 870 at just ¥1999

For a couple of months, we’ve been hearing a lot of rumors and information about Motorola’s upcoming devices, such as Motorola Nio, Capri, Capri Plus and that’s why confusion has been getting bigger and bigger. After a lot of rumors regarding the Motorola Nio, finally, it has got launched in China this evening as the Motorola Edge S. But outside China, the Motorola Edge S is said to be launched with another name, Motorola Moto G100.

So, nothing to confuse here. Motorola ‘Nio’ is the main device that has launched in China as Motorola Edge S and outside China as Motorola Moto G100. On the other hand, the Motorola Capri and Capri Plus smartphones are expected to get arrived with respective retail names: Moto G10 and Moto G30.

The Motorola Edge S runs on the Android 11 OS and is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 chipset. Regarding the display, this phone features a 6.7-inch full HD+ (2520 x 1080 pixels) IPS LCD panel having a faster refresh rate of 90Hz. This display offers HDR10 support.

The SD 870 SOC of this phone is paired with 6GB/8GB of Turbo LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB/256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Coming to the camera section, this phone offers a quad rear camera setup that includes a 64MP primary sensor, a16MP ultra-wide sensor, a 2MP fixed-focus depth sensor, and a ToF sensor. For selfies, this phone has a dual punch-hole front camera setup having a primary sensor of 16MP and an ultrawide sensor of 8MP.

The Motorola Edge S is fueled up by a 5,000mAH battery supported by 20W of fast charging. For splash resistance, this phone is IP52 certified. In terms of connectivity, this phone supports dual SIM, Bluetooth 5.1, dual-frequency GPS, 3.5mm headphone jack, and so on. This phone comes in an Emerald Light color variant.

Coming to the pricing and availability, the Motorola Edge S has already up for pre-orders whereas the actual shipping will start from February 3 at a price tag of CNY 1,999 (INR 22,500, €250, converted) for the 6/128GB model, CNY 2,399 (INR 27,000, €305) for the 8/128GB model and CNY 2,799 (INR 31,500, €350) for the 8/256GB model.
