MotoGP™ riders embrace Indian culture and cricket ahead of first-ever Indian Grand Prix

Renowned MotoGP™ riders showcased their cricket skills on Thursday, uniting the essence of motorsport amidst the vibrant atmosphere of India. This event commemorated the upcoming IndianOil Grand Prix of India, which will take place from September 22-24 at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida. The riders’ demonstration illustrated their ability to adapt and embrace the cultural diversity of the host country, fostering a sense of camaraderie within the motorsport community.

The enthusiastic and passionate group of riders, including the reigning champion Francesco Bagnaia, Fabio Quartararo, Luca Marini, and Pol Espargaro seized the exhilarating opportunity to indulge in a thrilling game of gully cricket at the Buddh International Circuit track. Their fervor and energy reached new heights as they played some fantastic shots and sent the cricket ball far into the stands.

Star Indian cricketer Suresh Raina, well-known for his skills on the cricket field, also decided to join the riders at the track. He engaged in a game of cricket with none other than Brad Binder, the fastest man on the MotoGP™ bike from the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team.

The riders, Marco Bezzecchi, Jack Miller, Aleix Espargaro, Jorge Martin, and Alex Marquez, enthusiastically took part in the Flash Mob MotoGP™ event, immersing themselves in the electrifying atmosphere of cricket on the track. Accompanying them were 30 talented dancers from the local community who delivered a captivating performance, embodying the spirit and vibrancy of India, while also adding to the contagious energy of MotoGP™.

“It is great to be here in India and I am ready to race at the Buddh International Circuit in IndianOil Grand Prix of India. The track looks really nice and I will take a close look later on but right now it looks really beautiful. We took part in a flash mob and saw these performers doing the typical Indian dance which has been a fantastic experience. All the dancers were really emotional, so, it’s been really good,” commented Marco Bezzecchi of Mooney VR46 Racing Team (Ducati).

Alex Marquez, a MotoGP™ rider from Gresini Racing (Ducati), expressed his enthusiasm about MotoGP™ coming to India. He mentioned that both MotoGP™ and the fans are excited about the race. As it was his first time visiting India, he was delighted to be there. He also complimented the track, saying that the layout is impressive. Marquez assured fans that he and his team will put forth their best effort to provide them with an exciting race.

The IndianOil Grand Prix of India, organized by FairStreet Sports in collaboration with Dorna Sports, is set to be an exciting event in the MotoGP™️, Moto2, and Moto3 categories. With the participation of 41 teams and 82 riders, including well-known figures such as Francesco Bagnaia, Marc Marquez, Marco Bezzecchi, Brad Binder, Jack Miller, and Jorge Martin, it promises to be a captivating spectacle.
