Mohun Bagan SG have learned their opponents for the AFC Champions League 2 Group stage. The Mariners will be the only Indian club playing in the second tier of Asian football this season. They achieved their spot by winning the ISL League Shield on the final day of last season.
East Bengal had the chance to qualify and join their rivals in the group stage as well, but were defeated 3-2 by Altyn Asyr of Turkmenistan. Now, they will play in the AFC Challenge Cup while their rivals will represent the country in the second tier.

In preparation of the new season, the Mariners have made some massive signings, including Jamie Maclaren, Tom Aldred, Apuia, Greg Stewart and Alberto Rodriguez.
