Miss North Carolina USA Stripped of Her Crown Weeks Before Miss USA

Just five weeks after taking the crown, Brittany Boltinhouse is out. The Miss North Carolina USA organization revoked her title on August 5, and the reason wasn’t a scandal from the stage — it was something that surfaced after the fact.

What Happened

Boltinhouse was crowned Miss North Carolina USA on June 28 and was set to compete at the 75th annual Miss USA pageant on August 27. That plan changed fast. A Blaize Productions, which runs Carolina pageants, said the decision followed “a thorough review of recently surfaced information,” without naming specifics.

Miss USA president Thom Brodeur backed the call publicly, stressing the organization’s zero-tolerance stance on racism, homophobia, transphobia, and conduct that undermines dignity. He described the issue as reflecting “conduct over an extended period of time,” not a single incident.

Who Steps In

Runner-up Myla Hadley now inherits the crown and will represent North Carolina at Miss USA. Both organizations asked the public to treat Hadley and Boltinhouse with respect during the transition, and Brodeur confirmed Boltinhouse plans to address the situation herself, in her own words.
