Minecraft Ghast Evolution: Introducing Ghastling and Happy Ghast

In the ever-evolving world of Minecraft, Mojang Studios continues to push the boundaries of creativity, introducing two groundbreaking ghast variants that promise to revolutionize players’ experiences in the Nether realm. The announcement at Minecraft Live 2025 marks a significant departure from the game’s long-standing single ghast design, offering players a more dynamic and interactive encounter with these ethereal creatures.

Minecraft Ghastling: The Adorable New Mob

The first of the new variants, the Ghastling, represents a complete reimagining of the traditional ghast:

• Discovered as a dried ghast block in Soul Sand Valley
• Located near Nether fossils
• Grows when submerged in water for several days
• Features an adorable smile and raised eyebrows
• Significantly cuter and calmer than traditional ghasts
• Can consume snowballs to grow into a full-sized ghast

Happy Ghast: A Game-Changing Companion

The Happy Ghast introduces an entirely new gameplay mechanic:

• Grown from the Ghastling variant
• Passive and friendly to all entities
• Automatically spawns as a tamed creature
• Designed to help players explore the Overworld
• Comes with a unique “harness” saddle
• Capable of carrying up to four players

Crafting the Happy Ghast Harness

Players can create the exclusive happy ghast saddle using:

• Three leather pieces
• Two glass blocks
• One wool block

Minecraft’s new ghast variants represent more than just aesthetic changes – they’re a testament to the game’s commitment to innovation, player interaction, and imaginative gameplay experiences.
