Microsoft has taken a big decision on Russia about supplying gaming consoles. As the war environment is rising so warm in between Russia and Ukraine. The battle has been intensified, Ukrainian officials have also been called on game platforms to cut off the service on the Russian market. Yesterday, CD Projekt Red answered the call.
It has been suspended the sailing of their products and those offered along the GOG storefront in Russia and Belarus and now there is one of the big consoles makers that had been folder the suit. Now Microsoft has suspended all the new sales and services in Russia and it contains Xbox hardware, Xbox Live, and Xbox Game Pass.
They said, “ We are announcing today that we will suspend all new sales of Microsoft products and services in Russia. Additionally, we are coordinating closely and also working in lockstep with the governments of the United States, the European Union, and the United Kingdom, and we are also stopping many aspects of our business in Russia in compliance with governmental sanctions decisions.”
In the course of terminating the sales in Russia Microsoft also detailed some of the efforts they have made to battle Russian cyberattacks on Ukraine and also elsewhere. They said, “ We believe we are most effective in aiding Ukraine when we take concrete steps in coordination with the decision being made by the governments and we will take additional steps like the situation continues to change.
Our single most impactful area of work almost certainly is the protection of Ukraine’s cyber security. Now we will continue to work proactively to help cyber security officials in Ukraine defend against Russian attacks. It also contains most recently a cyber attack against a major Ukrainian broadcaster.
Since the war began, we have acted against the positioning of destructive or disruptive measures against more than 20 Ukrainian government, IT, and financial sector organizations. We have also acted against cyber-attacks aiming at several of the additional civilian sites. We have publicly raised our concerns that these attacks against civilians violate the Geneva Convention”.
As Microsoft suspends the sales in Russia and now there will be the most interesting fact5s is what the other console makers respond on it. It has been hinted already that they may be preparing for making such similar kind of steps as Sony has deleted the new Gran Turismo 7 from sale in Russia. It is also reported that Nintendo may be shutting down its services in the country.
It is expected that a peaceful resolution will be taken in conflict and the safety of all the Ukrainian citizens.
A big thanks for the source.
