Mi Notebook Ultra with 11th Gen Intel CPUs, 3.2K display and up to 12 hours battery life launched

Finally, Xiaomi has launched its premium end notebooks – Mi Notebook Ultra and Mi Notebook Pro in India at mouth-watering prices. Here we will talk about the new Mi Notebook Ultra which will be one of the costliest laptops launched by Xiaomi in India and has specs you have never seen before the price.

Specifications

Design

This is a well-built premium notebook with a metal unibody design, made up of Aircraft grade Aluminium alloy, that makes it both premium yet very light to carry.

Xiaomi says the Mi NoteBook Ultra is crafted with a microscopic level of detail, made from a 6-series aerospace-grade aluminium alloy that is 1.4 times stronger than a 5-series aluminium alloy. The CNC unibody design is precisely carved using a machine and delicately polished into a sleek body by 17 intricate processes.

It is just 17.9mm thin and has a weight of only 1.7kg, not the lightest but also not the heaviest. Xiaomi says the body of the laptop has 170 Grit Sandblasted Texture by using Ceramic / SiO2 particles of a diameter of a human hair (88 microns) to blast the surface.

Display

The laptop has one of the best displays for the price, featuring a 15.6-inch display with 3.2K resolution that has 3 times as many pixels as a Full HD screen, 6.4 million pixels to be precise, accounting for 242 pixels per inch.

Great to see Xiaomi bringing a 16:10 aspect ratio on a notebook on the 39.62cm (15.6) Mi TrueLife+ Display, this really helps whether you are working, writing, gaming, or watching content. Also, the 89.1% screen-to-body ratio makes it look like you have a lot of screens to work on.

Covering 100% sRGB Wide Colour Gamut, this display is colour accurate as well for productivity work like Photoshop, Video editing and a lot more. Also, the display feels 50% more fluid than a 60Hz display when you switch between 60 Hz and 90 Hz using Fn+S keys.

Another two features, you would appreciate are TUV Rheinland Low Blue Light protection that filters blue light without affecting the colour accuracy of the display and DC dimming ensures minimum flicker resulting in reduced eye fatigue.

Performance

For the best experience, Xiaomi has again partnered with Intel to use their 11th-Generation Tigerlake H35 processors, from which you can opt for both Core i5 and Core i7 variants, with 4 cores and 8 threads with up to 4.8GHz boost frequency.

Even though this is a thin & light notebook, the processor can draw up to 35W of power when needed to give you the best performance. Also, you have Intel’s Iris® Xe Graphics that delivers good graphical performance, even better than a dedicated Nvidia MX350 / MX450 graphics.

So, you can play some casual games anytime, any moment and for productivity people like who like to do coding, video editing and stuff, the onboard graphics can help. This comes coupled with up to 16GB high speed 3200MHz dual-channel memory and 512GB NVMe SSD.

For thermals, Xiaomi has used a thick 6mm Diameter Heat Pipe and Large Diameter Fan and you can easily switch between Quite & Balanced modes using Fn+K.

Keyboard & Trackpad

The design obviously resembles the MacBooks to some extent where you have a full size backlit keyboard and a larger trackpad. The Scissor Mechanism keyboard supports 3 Level Backlighting and the keys have a good 1.5 mm key travel and Xiaomi says each of the keys is rated at 5M strikes.

You have a 62% larger trackpad than Mi NoteBook 14 (2020) and it is really big with support for Windows Precision drivers. Also, you have a Fingerprint scanner built into the power button with support for faster unlocks using Windows Hello.

Connectivity & Ports

In terms of connectivity, you have a combo of the latest Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1 support. On the other hand, the laptop has all the ports you could ask for, thanks to Intel, you get the Thunderbolt 4 port which is 8 times faster than USB 3.2 and support charging via the in-box charger.

The benefits of having a Thunderbolt port is endless as you get to experience high-speed connectivity and data transfer technologies with up to 40 Gbps bandwidth.
You can connect up to two 4K or one 8K external monitor and you can plug in an external GPU dock and play games at high frame rates.

Also, you get another USB Type-C, USB 3.2 Gen 1, USB 2.0, HDMI and 3.5mm audio jack.

Audio & Webcam

For audio, you have 2 x 2W Stereo Speakers, which should be enough and it has support for DTS audio processing app.

It’s good to see Xiaomi has not skipped on the webcam part as it did last time and you have a built-in 720p (HD) webcam where it should be.

Battery Life

The Mi Notebook Ultra promises an impressive 12 hours of battery, giving you an all-day battery life experience, which only a few laptops give in this price segment.

Also, you have the 65W USB C charger that can charge your laptop up to 50% Charge in 45 mins.

OS & Software

It comes with a pre-installed Windows 10 Home and Microsoft Office Home and Student Edition 2019 license, also you have Xiaomi’s proprietary Mi SmartShare software as well.

Pricing & Availability

The Xiaomi Mi Notebook Ultra has a starting price of 59,999 for the Core i5 11th Gen variant with 8GB RAM + 512GB NVMe SSD and for the variant with 16GB RAM, you have to shell out 63,999.

If you need more power then go for the Core i7 11th Gen variant with 16GB RAM + 512GB NVMe SSD priced at 76,999. The first sale of the notebook will be on 31st August at 12PM and you can also avail up to ₹4,500 Instant Discount with HDFC Bank Credit Cards & EasyEMI.
