The introduction of Meta’s eagerly awaited Meta Quest 3 mixed reality headset has been revealed. This autumn, the smartphone will begin shipping, with a 128GB option costing $499.99. An extra storage option will be made accessible for consumers that need more room for storing.
Pancake optics and a higher quality display in Meta Quest 3 enable viewers to enjoy clearer, more immersive entertainment. A next-generation Snapdragon chipset, which offers more than twice the graphical capability of its predecessor, will be included in the Meta Quest 3.
Meta Quest 3 has been redesigned, with a 40% smaller ocular profile than its predecessor, Quest 2. To provide a more natural and immersive gaming experience, the Touch Plus controllers have been simplified and ergonomically modified.
The Meta Quest 3 can access the Quest 2 catalogue of over 500 VR games, apps, and experiences thanks to backward compatibility. Meta has also promised new VR and MR titles to be released alongside Quest 3.
Meta has announced a price drop for the Quest 2 beginning June 4 to make VR even more affordable. The 128GB variant will cost $299.99 USD, while the 256GB variant will cost $349.99 USD. Furthermore, both the Quest 2 and the future Quest Pro will get a speed boost thanks to a software update and the addition of Dynamic Resolution Scaling.
Meta Quest 3 arrives just days before Apple’s WWDC, which will be held online on June 5. At the event, the Cupertino-based company is scheduled to make several announcements, including its first-ever mixed reality headset called Reality Pro. The device is expected to cost around $3000 and feature high-level specifications to outperform its competition.
