Lionel Messi will have GOAT printed on his shirt after a reported €50 million signing shirt agreement with PSG

Following a recently revealed €50 million shirt agreement with Paris Saint-Germain, Lionel Messi will have “GOAT” written on his shirt (PSG). Many consider the Argentine forward to be the best of all time, and he may now have the word emblazoned on his PSG uniform.

PSG has agreed on a huge €50 million commercial sponsorship deal with the online sneaker marketplace GOAT that begins at the start of the 2022-23 season and will continue for three years.

As part of the agreement, players will have the brand emblem printed on the sleeves of their club’s shirts. Marc Armstrong, PSG’s Chief Partnerships Officer, said in a statement announcing the deal: “We are delighted to welcome GOAT into the Paris Saint-Germain family with this partnership that will see them join the exclusive roster of club partners present on our iconic jerseys.”

“GOAT is a perfect fit for the club and further supports our position as a leading global sports and lifestyle icon for fans all over the world. Together we will develop exciting and creative experiences to connect with supporters everywhere.”

Messi Referred to as GOAT

In football circles, GOAT stands for ‘best of all time,’ an unofficial moniker given to Messi in recognition of his exceptional performances. Supporters have started using goat emojis while praising the PSG great, who has a record seven Ballons d’Or to his name and is the all-time leading scorer for both Barcelona and the Argentina national team.

During his 17-year spell at Camp Nou, which ended when his contract expired last summer, Messi won multiple La Liga and Champions League crowns, and he is on track to add a Ligue 1 trophy to his collection this season.

Since signing PSG on a free transfer, the 34-year-old has eight goals and 13 assists, and his moniker will now be printed on his sleeve until the final year of his deal in 2022-23.
