Matthew Perry’s FRIENDS Scripts, SAG Award & Banksy Artwork Going to Auction for a Cause Close to His Heart

If you grew up watching Chandler Bing crack jokes on a Thursday night, this one is going to hit differently. The Matthew Perry Foundation has announced that some of the most personal and iconic items from the beloved actor’s life and career are heading to auction — and the proceeds will go toward something Perry spent the latter years of his life fighting hard for.

According to the latest revelation from the Matthew Perry Foundation, an auction will be held to bid on some items that were near and dear to the star himself.

What’s Going Under the Hammer?

The auction lineup is a treasure trove for any FRIENDS fan. Items including 26 scripts for episodes like The One With Ross’s Tan, The One Where Joey Speaks French, and the two-part series finale The Last One will be auctioned off to raise money for the foundation, which aims to reduce stigma around addiction. Two separate scripts personally signed by Perry himself will also be part of the event, and those will include autographs by his co-stars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer.

That’s right — a script signed by all six FRIENDS cast members. Let that sink in.

The signed scripts were donated by Warner Bros. for the good cause. Games

Why This Auction Matters Beyond the Memorabilia?

This isn’t just a celebrity estate sale — it’s a mission. Matthew Perry was remarkably open about his decades-long battle with addiction, and his foundation carries that legacy forward. You can learn more about addiction and recovery support systems on Wikipedia to understand the kind of work the Matthew Perry Foundation is trying to fund through this auction.

The inclusion of his personal SAG Award and fine art collection — pieces from artists like Banksy — shows just how intimate this auction truly is. These aren’t props or merchandise; they are objects Perry lived with, cherished, and chose to keep close.

Matthew Perry was found unconscious in the pool at his Los Angeles home and was declared dead after being brought to the hospital on October 28, 2023. Nearly three years later, his foundation is ensuring that his loss continues to create meaningful change.

A Legacy Built on Laughter and Honesty

Perry was never shy about the harder parts of his story. His memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, was a raw and unflinching account of fame, addiction, and survival. The fact that his personal items are now being channelled into addiction awareness work is entirely in keeping with the man he was in his final years — someone who wanted his pain to mean something for others.

For fans who grew up with FRIENDS, bidding on a piece of that world is a chance to carry a little of that Central Perk magic forward — while also supporting a cause that genuinely saves lives.
