The Kit Harington Update

Kit Harington played Dane Whitman, who was teased at the end of 2021’s Eternals with the mysterious Ebony Blade. In a recent chat with MovieWeb, he said he would love to return, but he doesn’t believe there are any plans for the character. He called Dane a “wicked” character and talked about how the blade works as a story about addiction: the more he kills, the worse he gets. It’s a fascinating idea, and fans were hoping to see it play out.

On paper, Dane would have been a natural fit for a team built around dark, supernatural heroes. That makes Harington’s comments feel like a notable shift.

Is Dane Whitman Really Out?

Not necessarily. Marvel is famous for keeping secrets, and actors are often trained to dodge questions. Harington could be protecting a surprise, or Marvel may not have told him yet. It’s also possible the studio hasn’t locked in these plans at all. Since the film appears to be years from production, almost anything could still change. So treat this as a “probably not” rather than a hard no.

Who Could Lead the Team Instead?

Marvel has already made some progress on the roster. Ryan Gosling’s casting as Ghost Rider is the biggest piece. It’s still unclear which version of the character he’ll play, but the flame-headed hero is a regular Midnight Sons member, so his fiery chain and penance stare would fit right in.

Oscar Isaac’s Moon Knight is another classic link. He’s only appeared in the MCU through his 2022 solo series, but rumors say he’s on the roster, bringing a mystical edge tied to ancient Egyptian mythology.

The biggest question mark is Mahershala Ali. He reportedly signaled that his solo Blade movie is dead, and earlier reports hinted Blade could play a role in Midnight Sons. His involvement isn’t guaranteed. Other names that have been floated include Benedict Wong’s Wong, Gael García Bernal’s Werewolf by Night, Laura Donnelly’s Elsa Bloodstone and Finn Jones’ Iron Fist. With so little confirmed, any lineup is guesswork for now. If you enjoy following casting rumors like these, there’s more to explore at Techno Sports.

When Could It Arrive?

Don’t expect it soon. Marvel’s 2028 calendar is already busy, so a Midnight Sons debut would probably land in 2029 at the earliest. That’s a long runway, which gives the studio plenty of time to shuffle the cast, the story and the tone.

Conclusion

The Midnight Sons idea has real potential: a team of monsters, mystics and anti-heroes is something the MCU has never really done. Losing a character like Dane Whitman would be a small disappointment, but Ghost Rider and Moon Knight give the project a strong foundation. Until Marvel makes things official, it’s smart to enjoy the rumors with a grain of salt. Check back with Techno Sports for the latest as this develops.
