Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has hosted the global debut of the five-door Jimny at the Greater Noida Auto Expo in 2023. When it hits the market in the middle of this year, the lifestyle off-roading SUV will compete against the upcoming five-door Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha. It has larger proportions than the international three-door Jimny Sierra. The five-door Jimny will first be introduced in India before expanding into international markets.
The off-roading SUV is said to have ample body angles, a three-link rigid axle suspension, and Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro 4WD system with a low-range transfer gear (4L mode). The AllGrip Pro provides extreme off-road capability, carrying on the brand’s strong legacy of global success spanning over five decades.
The five-door Maruti Suzuki Jimny has squared body proportions, signature design elements such as the clamshell bonnet, vertical slits in the front grille, and round headlamps, and is based on the ‘Purity of Function’ philosophy. According to the brand, this interior features basic black shades to avoid distraction, while silver inserts highlight functional elements.
The overall length of the five-door Maruti Suzuki Jimny with a spare wheel is 3,985 mm, the width is 1,645 mm, the height is 1,720 mm, and the wheelbase length is 2,590 mm.
The bootspace capacity of the lifestyle off-road SUV is 208 litres (332 litres when rear seats are folded), and the ground clearance is 210 mm. It has a 36-degree approach angle, a 50-degree departure angle, and a 24-degree breakover angle. The 1.5-litre four-cylinder K15B mild hybrid petrol engine with idle start/stop technology is used for performance. This powertrain was previously prominent in Maruti Suzuki’s lineup, but now only the Ciaz has it as a K15C has already replaced it in many models.
