Marco Asensio breaks silence on Real Madrid future

Marco Asensio has commented on his future at Real Madrid, and also opened up on a move to Barcelona recently. The winger has been called up to the Spain national team ahead of the World Cup and will be playing his opening game today.

After raging at the lack of minutes a while ago, the Spaniard has been given more chances now. And his performances could convince the defending champions of Spain and Europe to extend his deal for the coming years.

Marco Asensio speaks on Real Madrid future and Barca move

“There has been talk in the media that I am changing Real Madrid’s mind. The truth is, I have always tried to give the best that I have inside and then let the rest fall into place. The one who decides, too, is the club, it does not only depend on me. After the World Cup — both the club and I will make a decision.”

“Do I want to renew? Yes, hopefully it can happen and I am very happy at Real Madrid, and would be for many years. I hope to stay for 10 more years”, Marco Asensio confessed.

On Carlo Ancelotti backing him, he said:  “He has told me that the feelings with the club are not cold. He has a lot of confidence in me and I’m focused on the World Cup”.

Barcelona was never an option. I’m happy at Real Madrid, I feel very well… but in future you never know,” he added.

“In that case, it wasn’t true that I was considering Barça as option”.
