Manchester United’s Lee Grant officially retires at 39

Manchester United backup goalkeeper Lee Grant has officially retired from football. The 39-year-old has confirmed that he will be hanging up his gloves, and will be making the transition to coaching soon.

Grant is among the first players to leave the club ahead of an ambitious transfer window for new Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag. Former first team coach Ralf Rangnick confirmed that a number of players would be leaving the club, and Lee Grant is now one of the names on the list.

‘There have been so many fun moments mixed in with the odd challenge, but I’m grateful for each and every one.

‘Fulfilling a boyhood dream of playing for Manchester United was something I thought was out of reach, so to have achieved that fills me with great pride and emotion!

‘Although I haven’t played as many games in the last four years, I’ve given everything to the group every single day on the training pitch and in the dressing room.
