Manchester City’s 2-2 draw vs West Ham United gives Liverpool renewed title hopes

West Ham United denied Manchester City all three points at the London Stadium as they held the league leaders to a 2-2 draw. The title race is still open between City and Liverpool, and they must win their final game against Aston Villa if they are to secure the league title and deny their rivals the quadruple.

Jarrod Bowen played against Man City’s high line and took full advantage of it, scoring two similar goals to send the home team 2-0 up at half time. The England international has now scored 12 goals in the Premier League this season, in a very successful year for the winger.

Manchester City salvage a point after second half comeback

A goal from Jack Grealish was able to set the tone for the second half shortly following the break. Vladimir Coufal’s own goal have the defending champions a level scoreline, and they later had the perfect chance to make it 3-2.

But, Lukasz Fabianski was able to save a penalty from Riyad Mahrez to keep the scores level and deny Manchester City all three points.

West Ham United captain Mark Noble came off the bench, and had an emotional farewell at the final home game with the Hammers.

With the dropped points, Liverpool will need to win their game in hand against Southampton to keep themselves in the title race. Manchester City still have a five point advantage, and will need to get a result in their final game against Villa or hope that their competitors slip up.
