Manchester City to sign Sergio Gomez for €10m+ this summer

Manchester City are close to signing Sergio Gomez from Belgian club Anderlecht. The Premier League champions will be paying above €10 million for the left-back to the Belgian side.

Marc Cucurella was the major target for City this summer at left-back, after the departure of Oleksandr Zinchenko. However, they refused to pay over £40 million for the Brighton player. Now, they have identified Gomez as a more suitable option, given that he is young and will be able to provide backup for Joao Cancelo.

Sergio Gomez to join Manchester City

The 21-year-old could be announced as a new City player in the coming days, once the final agreement has been reached between the two clubs.

According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, there are chances that Girona will sign Sergio Gomez on loan for the coming season. But, he might end up staying at City to back-up Cancelo and share game time with him.

In the youngster, Guardiola will be getting a very offensive minded full-back. He scored seven goals and provided 15 assists across all competitions last season. And as a result, he might be able to grow into a top player in the coming years.

City have already signed Erling Haaland, Julian Alvarez, Stefan Ortega and Kalvin Phillips this summer. And soon, Gomez might join the list of new players for the Sky Blues.
