Manchester City have agreed a deal with RB Leipzig for the transfer of Josko Gvardiol. The Croatian was the subject of interest from the treble winners for weeks, and a deal has now been agreed with Leipzig for their star defender.
The player is in Manchester to complete the medical tests for the move, which will make him available ahead of the Community Shield against Arsenal. Leipzig wanted him to be the most expensive centre-back in football, with a fee worth €100 million demanded. The transfer fee for him has now been revealed as around €90 million.
Josko Gvardiol to sign for Manchester City from RB Leipzig
Personal terms have already been agreed between Gvardiol and Manchester City, and he will soon be officially announced as a new signing for the Sky Blues.
Chelsea and Real Madrid were linked with the Croatian in the past. In January, the West London club made contact with RB Leipzig for him. But, they left the negotiations as he was deemed too expensive. The club ended up signing Benoit Badiashile from Monaco instead, and Josko Gvardiol is now headed to Manchester City.
At 21, the central defender has shown a lot of potential to develop into a top player. And with a project like that of City’s, he has the best conditions to grow into one of the best defenders in the Premier League in the years to come.
