Main Vaapas Aaunga OTT Release Date: When to Watch It on Netflix

Main Vaapas Aaunga OTT Release Date: Imtiaz Ali’s partition-era love story is heading to Netflix — here’s everything you need to know.

There are films you watch, and then there are films that stay with you long after the credits roll. Main Vaapas Aaunga feels like the latter. Directed by Imtiaz Ali and starring Diljit Dosanjh, Sharvari, and Vedang Raina, the film released in theatres on June 12, 2026 — and ever since, fans who missed it on the big screen have had one burning question: when is the Main Vaapas Aaunga OTT release date?

Here’s your complete guide.

Main Vaapas Aaunga — Quick Info

What Is Main Vaapas Aaunga About?

The story centres on an elderly man haunted by memories of a love lost during the 1947 Partition of India — a tale he narrates to his grandson, recounting a tragic migration that changed everything. The film moves across two timelines, weaving together romance, heartbreak, and history in a way only Imtiaz Ali can.

The Indian Express praised it as “an astounding take on Partition trauma,” while The Hollywood Reporter India called it “a partition-era story worth falling for.” That’s high praise — and a clear sign this is not your average Bollywood film.

When Is the Main Vaapas Aaunga OTT Release Date on Netflix?

If you’re waiting to watch Main Vaapas Aaunga from the comfort of your couch, good news — the wait won’t be too long.

Main Vaapas Aaunga will stream on Netflix after its theatrical run, as confirmed on the movie’s official posters. This follows the same pattern as Imtiaz Ali and Diljit Dosanjh’s earlier collaboration, Amar Singh Chamkila, which was also a Netflix title.

Neither Netflix nor the filmmakers have revealed the exact streaming date — but films generally take six to eight weeks to premiere on OTT after their theatrical rollout, meaning Main Vaapas Aaunga will most likely be available to stream at the end of July or very early August 2026.

Mark your calendars and hit that Netflix notification bell.

Why You Should Watch It

Television mogul Ektaa Kapoor, who watched the film early, said it “illustrates how different generations experience love and life.” Naseeruddin Shah, Diljit Dosanjh, Sharvari, and Vedang Raina together bring an extraordinary depth of emotion to the screen. The music is scored by the legendary A.R. Rahman — enough said.

This is the rare film that holds a mirror to one of India’s most painful chapters while still telling a deeply human love story.
