SS Rajamouli’s time-travel epic “Varanasi” just gave fans a mythological surprise. Reports suggest the film’s much-anticipated Ramayana sequence will center on one of the epic’s most electrifying battles — and Mahesh Babu is reportedly at the heart of it.
What’s The Buzz About?
According to a report by Telugu Chitraalu, the Ramayana episode in “Varanasi” focuses entirely on the intense battle between Lord Rama and Kumbhakarna. Mahesh Babu is said to appear as Lord Rama in this epic portion, with Lord Hanuman and the mighty Vanara Sena also part of the sequence.
Interestingly, characters like Sita and King Ravana reportedly won’t appear in this specific chapter, since the film is zooming in on just this one battle rather than retelling the entire Ramayana. It’s worth noting the makers haven’t officially confirmed any of these details yet.

Why This Matters For Fans
Rajamouli has a proven track record of blending mythology with grand-scale action, and a Rama-Kumbhakarna showdown gives him the perfect canvas for spectacle. Kumbhakarna, Ravana’s giant brother known for his immense strength, is one of the most visually iconic figures in the Ramayana — making this sequence a natural fit for a big-budget cinematic treatment.
The Ramayana, one of the two major Sanskrit epics of ancient India, has inspired countless film and television adaptations across generations.
With “Varanasi” already generating massive anticipation thanks to its ensemble cast and Rajamouli’s direction, this mythological twist only adds to the excitement. For more South cinema updates and casting reports like this, visit TechnoSports for continuous entertainment coverage.
The Bottom Line
Nothing is locked in officially, but if these reports hold up, “Varanasi” could deliver one of the most visually stunning mythological battle sequences in recent Indian cinema. With April 2027 still a while away, expect more reveals as the film nears release.
