Magenta ties up with Xavier Institutes (part of the Jesuit Educational Network) to set up EV Charging Stations at multiple campuses

14th March 2022, Mumbai: Magenta, India’s fastest growing Charge Point Operator (CPO), ties up with Xavier Institutes (part of the Jesuit Educational Network) to install EV charging stations at their multiple educational campuses. This initiative has been started off with the first EV charger installation at Mumbai’s Xavier’s Institute of Engineering Campus at Mahim.

The charging station is inaugurated under the auspicious hands of Dr. HariBalaji N. IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police. It is the first Electric Charging station in any educational institution in Mumbai. The EV charging station will be operational 24 hours a day, seven days a week. These chargers will be controlled via the ChargeGrid App, which features online remote monitoring and an automated payment mechanism.

The Charging station is a combination of AC and DC Chargers (30kW DC Fast Charger + 7.4kW AC), which shall support 2-wheelers, 3-wheelers and 4-wheelers. With this Magenta, will be installing EV chargers across Xavier’s network of educational institutes in India which pervades 83 University colleges, 7 major Institutes of Business Management, 22 Technical Institutes, 11 Research Institutes, over 92 High Schools and 15 Specialized Institutions.

Speaking on the occasion Bishop Barthel Barretto, Auxiliary Bishop, Archdiocese of Bombay, stated “The earth is our common home and we all need to jointly protect and renew it. Every such attempt needs to start from a child’s formative years. I am glad that Xavier Institutes has taken that first step to inculcate clean mobility for its students and also for society at large. We will soon see such EV charging stations across Xavier’s network of institutes.”

Mr. Maxson Lewis, CEO & Founder of Magenta, commented on the announcement, saying, “Colleges and institutions are leading the way when it comes to promoting low and zero-emission vehicles. We are pleased to see the support of the esteemed Xavier’s Institute of Engineering to install an EV charging station. This reflects the Institute’s dedication to sustainability and exhibits its foresight. We hope that this encourages healthy competition among campuses to be the greenest in the world.”

Magenta EV Charging points are presently available in almost 34 cities and on many State and National roads under various business models and market niches, beginning with installing the first chargers in Mumbai. Magenta intends to build a network of 4800 charging stations around the country to convert entire roadway segments into e-highways. This move will support the government initiative of setting up 400,000 charging stations to meet the requirement for two million Electric Vehicles (EV) that could potentially ply on its roads by 2026.

Some of the recent developments at Magenta include installing Public EV Charging station in collaboration with Central Railways alongside Parel, Dadar and Byculla Railway Stations. Recently, Magenta installed the Residential chargers for the Government of Delhi under the ‘Single window clearance program.

Magenta has created a network of 116 Private EV charging point in Delhi and has a plan to install 5000 home chargers this year in collaboration with the Delhi government and BSES under Single Window Facility Mumbai, 1st June 2022: To accelerate the EV adoption of Electric vehicles and curb the air pollution, the Delhi government aims to deploy 25% of all new vehicles to be battery operated by 2024. Magenta ChargeGrid, a leading EV charging company has successfully installed around 116 EV chargers under the Delhi government Single window scheme. The chargers have been installed in several locations of Delhi such as Munirka, Chattarpur, Jamia Nagar, Vasant Kunj, Dwarka, Rohini and more. Magenta has been empanelled by three DISCOMs of Delhi including BRPL, BYPL and TPDDL for a period of three year to set up an EV charging station network across the capital. Around 100 EV chargers are also installed in different DISCOM offices. Under this subsidy scheme “Each consumer is eligible for Rs 6000/- GNCTD (Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi) subsidy per EV charging point under the Delhi EV Policy limited to 1 EV charging point for private charging and up to 20 EV Charging point for semi-public properties e.g., Housing societies, commercial properties, government buildings and projects.” The GNCTD subsidy is available for the first 30,000 points including LEVAC and AC001 chargers. Maxson Lewis, Founder and Managing Director, Magenta said “We support the Delhi government initiative of making Delhi the EV capital of India.” The attractive purchase incentives provided by the Government will surely make the cost of owning and operating an EV affordable. Keeping with the trend for home EV charging, which generally accounts for 70-80 percent of worldwide charging demands, we are planning to cover around 5000 installations of home chargers by the end of this year under this scheme. We have successfully deployed the highest number of EV charging points under this scheme. Safety of the user is non-negotiable at Magenta ChargeGrid and has always been the topmost priority. With recent rising cases of fire incidents due to use of unsafe domestic sockets for charging leading to the loss of life and property, it's important to use dedicated charging points with in-built protection. The LEVAC chargers are best designed for private use and the AC001 for residential purposes. The private EV charger roughly costs Rs 2,375/- after subsidy which is very budget friendly too. The low-cost AC charger also has several innovative features such as auto charging session resume in the event of power failure and is equipped with multiple protections to protect against electronics short circuit, over current, over voltage, and ground fault. These chargers are also extremely 'Easy to Install' and take up very little space as they can be placed on the wall or on a stand. These smart chargers can be operated through ChargeGrid mobile application by all EV users Delhi's first LEV AC EV charger under the state government's plan, was successfully developed and installed by Magenta ChargeGrid at Vasant Kunj residential community which was inaugurated by honourable transport minister – Shri Kailash Gahlot. Magenta ChargeGrid is working rigorously on its vision to create a safe and smart EV charging network and plans to install more than 5000 chargers by the end of this year. Both business and residential enterprises can avail benefits from the scheme's incentive to install these EV chargers.
