East Bengal FC is finalizing a two-year contract with Madih Talal. The talented French midfielder, previously with Amiens FC, has begun his medical examination with East Bengal FC amid the international break. Talal’s stellar performances have been instrumental in turning around Punjab FC’s fortunes in the latter half of the ISL season.
During his inaugural season in India, Talal made a significant impact with Punjab FC, newly promoted to the league, by scoring four goals and making eight assists. His exceptional performance caught the attention of several ISL teams keen on signing him. Yet, the offer and future prospects presented by East Bengal FC, including the chance to participate in AFC competitions, swayed the 27-year-old’s decision.

Despite interest from various ISL teams and receiving offers from three of them, Talal expressed his inclination to continue playing in India. This was further corroborated by individuals close to him. Additionally, Talal expressed his eagerness to contribute to Indian football for years to come, underlining his positive impressions of Indian football and his desire to remain in the country.
Chennaiyin FC was among the first to reach out to Talal, but the negotiations did not culminate in a contract. Similarly, Bengaluru FC extended a contract offer and endeavored to secure Talal’s services as part of their foreign player overhaul strategy. However, it was ultimately East Bengal, with head coach Carles Cuadrat personally intervening, who succeeded in securing Talal’s commitment to a two-year agreement.
Madih Talal’s decision to join East Bengal was significantly influenced by Cuadrat’s personal efforts and the recognition of Talal’s undeniable talent despite interest from other clubs.
With Punjab FC contending for a playoff position and currently placed sixth, the team hopes for favorable outcomes in the remaining league matches to secure a playoff spot. Meanwhile, Talal aims to conclude the season on a strong note, contributing to Punjab FC’s success.
