According to a Filmfare insider report, Sanjay Leela Bhansali specifically wanted a fresh, untested face for Bollywood to portray one of Hindi cinema’s most iconic legends. Sai Pallavi — immensely celebrated in South Indian cinema but yet to make her Hindi debut — seemed like a natural fit for exactly that vision. A new face, carrying no Bollywood baggage, stepping into Madhubala’s shoes for the very first time. It had all the makings of a magical casting decision.
But it wasn’t meant to be. The talks didn’t materialize into anything concrete, with potential date clashes cited as the likely reason behind the talks breaking down. Bhansali’s creative vision for the film remains intact — it’s just that the search for the perfect Madhubala continues.
Following Sai Pallavi’s name, reports emerged about Kiara Advani being locked in for the role. But industry sources swiftly called those reports baseless too. Aneet Padda’s name also briefly circulated in the buzz. As of now, the lead actress for this dream project remains officially unannounced.
