Fans of dark, power-hungry noir thrillers, rejoice — “Made In Korea” Season 2 has officially dropped, and it’s pulling Hyun Bin’s character into his most dangerous chapter yet.

Ki-tae’s Empire Faces Its Biggest Threat

Season 1 saw Baek Ki-tae (Hyun Bin) rise through the ranks of the Korean Agency (KCIA), building a formidable empire along the way. Season 2 shatters that stability as Jang Geon-young (Jung Woo-sung), a former prosecutor who spent nine years plotting his revenge, closes in on Ki-tae with everything he’s got.

Set against the backdrop of 1979, a genuinely turbulent period in Korean history, the show blends fictional drama with real historical tension. For more context on this pivotal era, History of South Korea (Wikipedia) is a solid starting point to understand the political backdrop shaping the series.

A Brotherly Clash Adds Fuel to the Fire

Adding another layer of tension, Baek Ki-hyun (Woo Do-hwan) finds himself increasingly at odds with his older brother Ki-tae. As Ki-tae shows he’s willing to go to extreme lengths — described as “crossing the Han River,” echoing Julius Caesar’s fateful Rubicon crossing — Ki-hyun must decide whether loyalty or morality wins out.

Why This Season Matters

Season 2 elevates the story beyond personal ambition into themes of greed, power, and social responsibility, set against one of Korea’s most turbulent historical periods. With three powerhouse leads pulling in different directions, expect the tension to escalate fast.
