Maaveeran 2: Sivakarthikeyan’s Superhero Sequel May Finally Be Taking Shape

Comic-book heroes rarely stay grounded for long, and it looks like Sathya might be gearing up for round two. Buzz around a Maaveeran sequel has been simmering since 2023, and now there’s word that the script is finally taking form — with a possible 2028 shoot on the horizon.

Maaveeran 2: Overview

From Rumor to Real Possibility

According to online buzz, Maaveeran 2 is currently in its writing stage, with Sivakarthikeyan said to be keen on reprising his role. Reports suggest the film could go on the floors as early as 2028 — though this remains unconfirmed, as the makers haven’t made any official statement yet.

Adding to the intrigue, director Madonne Ashwin is also reported to have narrated a separate one-line story to actor Karthi, leaving fans curious about what his next project might actually be.

The original Maaveeran followed Sathya, a mild-mannered comic artist who begins hearing a mysterious narrating voice after a fall, discovering unexpected courage as he takes on a corrupt politician. The film’s unique blend of grounded drama and superhero fantasy made it a hit, and Sivakarthikeyan has previously said he’s open to a sequel — provided the script lives up to the original’s legacy.

On the work front, Sivakarthikeyan was last seen in Parasakthi and will next headline Seyon, co-produced by Kamal Haasan, expected to release around Pongal 2027.
